She perked up and got excited that Maddie would actually go with her as long as it was ok with Dre and Arcadia.

"It wouldn't hurt and I hope they say yes...we can ask them in the morning. Do you need to ask your dad and his wife to make sure it is ok with them?"

Kyra wasn't quite sure exactly how this parent thing worked but she would get the hang of it soon.

Maddie giggled. "No I don't have to ask them, also need to ask my sister..I mean my boss about getting the time off. In fact, I'm going to do that right now. I'll be right back."

She gave Kyra a naughty grin. "I'll explain later. Be right back."

When Maddie left Kyra ran out the door behind her and back down to Dre's room. She had to know the answer tonight or she wouldn't get any sleep. She knocked hurredly on the door of his room and prayed she wasn't interrupting them. She waited to see if he would answer.

He answered the door with a smile on his face.

"Hello Kyra. Did not think you would want to see me again. Please come in. Can I help with anything?"

He stepped back and let her enter his room once more.

Kyra walked in to the room and looked at him curiously as she spoke.

"Why wouldn't I want to see you again? But that can wait I have a question. Can Maddie come with us when we go to your home?"

She fidgeted and her wings fluttered as she waited for his answer.

He looked at her and chuckled inwardly.

"Kyra, that was two questions dear." He gave her a smile, "Now are you asking as a guest accompanying a lord and those he invited or as a daughter asking her father or maybe you are asking your boss, just so you can have more screwdrivers." He smirked and paused, then nodded."The answer is yes she can accompany you. I was just curious.

"Now as to your earlier question. I had thought perhaps you would not think of me as your friend and such, knowing what you now know. I would like to think we are still friends and that this has just raised that friendship. But that is a choice you have to make." He smiled, "Now you must get packed. We leave in the morning my dear."

She stood there puzzled not realizing when she asked him a question that she would have to wonder how she was addressing him. She stood there wide eyed and listened to him. She nearly jumped up and down when he said Maddie could go wit them. She answered him even though he didn't ask her any questions.

"We are still friends it's just going to take some getting used to for all of us. I've been on my own for longer than I can remember and to now have parents is a major deal for me. But we can talk about that on our trip if you want."

She didn't wait for an answer instead she turned and ran out the door to go pack.

"See you in the morning."

Kyra ran back to her room and started packing and waited for Maddie to come back to tell her the good news. Luckily for her packing didn't take long since she didn't have a lot to begin with. She laid down and waited.

Maddie got back to the room as quick as she could. She opened the door, and saw Kyra sitting on the bed. She was smilling ear to ear.

"So when do we leave?"

She giggled with the big grin on her face. The giggle came through as she spoke.

"We leave in the morning need help packing? I'm all packed and ready to go...you know he said I wanted to take you so we can sneak in some more screwdrivers."

She giggled more at the thought.

"Oh I believe we'll find everything else at the castle. Now lets get some sleep. I have a feeling we'll need it."

Maddie woke up to see daylight peering through the window. She almost giggled it was morning. She walked over to Kyra's bed, and lightly tapped her on the shoulder. "Kyra wake up it's morning. What time did Dre say we were leaving."

Kyra was already awake when Maddie told her to wake up. She sat up and giggled because she was already dressed and ready to go. She looked at Maddie and shrugged to her question.

"He never said what time we were leaving. Maybe we should grab our bags, lock up the room and go find out from him when we are leaving."

She grinned and was already up making her bed before an answer could be given.

Maddie got an evil grin on her face. "You know if I were a nine again, I would suggest doing what I used to do when I was little and had to wake him up. Go in his room, and jump on the bed till he woke up....What the heck, let's do it!!"
Maddie grabbed, her and Kyra's bags in one hand, and Kyra's hand the other, and headed out the door.

Maddie was sitting on her bed sobbing her eyeballs out waiting for Kyra. Why was all this happening to her. At least Kyra was coming, that made her feel better.

Kyra came into the room and saw Maddie sobbing and she quickly shut the door making sure to lock in and went over next to her. She was scared and worried.

"What's wrong Maddie? Why is everyone so upset today? My dad and your dad are fixing to go fight someone? This lady named Tasha yelled at me."

She didn't go into detail about the rest of it and sat next to her giving her a hug. She wanted to understand and wanted to help but she didn't know what to do now.

"I went walking in the wee hours. I had a nightmare and didn't want to wake you. I came upon my foster sister, and Benjamin Adams talking. I heard her scream for him not to touch him. Well I took my dagger out and tried to stop him, and well.. he took my soul. More or less killed me. The next thing I remember is waking up, seeing our Dads, Vemis, Tasha, and a few others standing around me like they seen a ghost. My dad and your dad had shifted forms. Then to my horror I see my boyfriend Jono dead beside me. According to Venis, he gave me his soul, so I might live."

Maddie had explained all the events of the day.

" This is all my fault,if I hadn't tried to attack Benjamin, Jono would still be here."

Not sure what to say as tears began to creep down her face. She just sat there hugging her friend and listening to her. Her thoughts were on their fathers at this point and she prayed they would be safe and do the right thing and not what their anger tells them to do.

It felt good to tell her what had happened. She could feel Kyra's own tears.

"Not to worry dear if they do decide to go, I put an enchament on their weapons. As long as they have their weapons in their hands, they will not die, or suffer any life altering injury."She hoped that peice of info would help eases Kyra's mind alittle.

Unfortunately it didn't help because more was going on with Kyra that she was going to tell anyone. She let out a sigh and told Maddie what she had done.

"Guess you aren't the only one trying to protect our fathers. I...umm did some weaves of protection for them. I just hope it helps and it would just make me feel better if they didn't go but I think it's too late for that now."

She looked at Kyra thoughful for a minute.

"Maybe not, I told my foster mother about what had happened, and I think she was going to try to stop my father judging by the look on her face."

Kyra nodded to her but remained silent and letting some thoughts take over. Decisions had to be made soon and things had to be done hopefully even sooner than that.
