Seeking Solace

Cas was still not sleeping well, the nightmares though not as bad as when the dream walker had been in her head were bad enough.

She dressed warmly against the weather in a gray wool dress and put on her heavy cloak.

"Kjay come on I need some fresh air."

He perked up and went to the door waiting for her.

She opened it and went downstairs to the garden. She sat down on the first bench she saw.

Kyra wasn't too sleepy with so much on her mind and her thoughts kept going to someone that she was starting to feel was going to be special to her or was he already she wasn't sure just yet. She decided to slip out of the room and go into the gardens to smell some of the flowers and see what else was there. Kyra stopped slightly startled when she saw someone sitting on the bench. Not sensing this person was going to hurt her she continued on her way into the garden and as she passed the woman she smiled and spoke softly.

"Good Evening."

She looked to her briefly before moving along not wanting to disturb her as she seemed to be in thought.

She looked up at the fairy and nodded.

"Good Evening, I guess I am not the only one that can't sleep."

She smiled softly as she petted Kjay.

Kyra stopped to talk to the woman since she started talking back. She nodded to her and looked down at the animal she petted.

"I had too much on my mind tonight to get any sleep. Besides its rather nice out tonight not too cold."

She looked back to the woman and the animal wondering what the animal was...she didn't know exactly what it was but had some ideas because of the animals at her father's home.

Cas simply nodded.

"I have had the same problem lately. I'm Casie. This is Kjay."

She had seen her looking at him with some curiosity.

"He is a wolf."

Kyra nodded back to her and introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you both and he is handsome..don't think he would like to be called pretty."

She giggled and forgot she didn't do as she intended which was introduce herself.

"I'm Kyra."

"I think handsome is the perfect thing to call him. You can pet him if you like, he won't bite."

"Kyra is a very pretty name, would you like to sit and talk?"

She smiled softly.

"I am good at helping people with their problems."

She took Cas' offer and took a seat next to Kjay and began to pet him albeit she moved very cautiously around the new found people. She smiled at the woman.

"What makes you think I have a problem? Maybe I just came to smell the flowers."

It came out in the most innocent of ways rather than being a snotty rat. Although she can do that to if she ever needs to.

"It is the middle of the night, and problems are why I am out here."

She smiled as she looked at her.

"But if you don't want to talk then I find sitting and looking at the stars is relaxing."

She nodded to her and let her thoughts catch up with her not sure what the problem is exactly. Kyra spoke a little sad and confused.

"It's not that I don't want to talk. I just don't know what or if there is a problem. Let us say things have changed dramatically for me in the past month or so."

She shrugged a little thinking about all the new things in her life.

Not knowing who this woman was she wanted to be cautious about what she said but her mouth started flapping quicker than her mind told her not to.

"Well I came here parentless only to find out my father is here and my mother showed up shortly after and it seems I have more family here plus there is this guy....."

Her eyes went wide realizing what she said and prayed she didn't say to much.

She smiled and chuckled a bit.

"There is always a guy in there some where."

She looked at her.

"It is always nice to find family, I found mine again when I came here."

She looked at her curiously at her and wondered and started talking again.

"Do you have a lot of family here? I didn't know mine was family when I first met them but then...my grandmother who I didn't know was my grandmother came to see my dad...well he was my friend at the time."

Kyra has a way of running off at the mouth when she gets nervous and her wings began to flap. She was curious about families since she only recently found hers.

"I have a very large extended family here, mostly friends that are close enough to be concidered family."

She thought of her twins and smiled.

"Then there is Kjay, he is my protector."

"It's always good to have a large family. It makes your time here less lonely."

She thought of the faerie people that protected her while her mother was away on business and essentially died keeping her safe.

"Do you ever wonder if you were drawn here to be with your family again?"

"I know I was, I had heard that they were here."

She looked at her.

"I had not seen them in many years."

She was saddened by that fact but she hid it well.

"They have changed a lot, but it is still good to know they are here."

Nods to her was curious if she met any of her family...maybe they know some of the same people. She spoke softly and rather cautiously not knowing how her question was going to come across.

"Do you mind if I ask you who some of your family is? I've met lots of people since I've been here."

She reached over and scratched Kjay's ear.

"Dreconis, Venis, Gawain, Khan, and their families as well."

She quickly perked up at the names and got a little more nervous about one of them more than the rest and her wings began to flutter more. This would be visible to Cas as Kyra started looking for an exit route just in case.

"Um....oh boy....umm. I'm sorry..."

She began to stand up not wanting to leave but didn't want to take chances either. She so didn't want to make her father angry and she didn't know how he would feel about someone knowing she was his daughter unless he told people but she didn't have any way of knowing that without asking him.

She looked at Kyra.

"I'm sorry did I say something wrong?"

She looked at her.

"I did not mean to frighten you, if you wish to go I will not try to stop you."

She took deep breathes that he tried to teach her at home and it was starting to work and she looked at her with a look as if to say I'm sorry. Once her she calmed down a bit she explained things to her even though it could get her in trouble.

"You wouldn't have known but umm....Dre is my dad."

She left it at that and figured Cas was smart enough to figure out the rest of the relations easily enough.

She was in shock, it was not often that Cas was rendered speachless.

"I guess that would make me sort of like your aunt, I call Dre my brother."

She got this look on her face as if to say what the heck.....he didn't tell her all about the family just certain people. But who would have thought she would have come across a family member on her own. She had one simple request and asked it of her.

"Can you not tell anyone else? I don't know if dad has told....ummmm his other mother yet and I'm not ready to meet much more of my new family. I'm still trying to get used to having both of my parents alive and well."

Cas smiled at her and nodded.

"I will keep it to myself, you may be interestedd to know I have two children, twins, Natalie and DJ."

She watched her as she went on.

"They are ten now."
