Returning from a flight of fancy Tasha123-1

Leviathan and Midnight had taken off the same day that Kahn had taken the other animals home with him. They had been cooped up in the Keep for so long it was nice to get the chance to run free. No one ever messed with Leviathan. She was on the larger side of average for a panther. Midnight on the other hand, people were always trying to mess with her. So she never went anywhere alone. They were headed back to he Inn. Midnight had tired of the scraps that Leviathan had been getting her to eat. She wanted her cat food and tuna.

They were coming through the woods and they entered a clearing. Leviathan could see the garden just ahead and the Inn beyond that. She had been walking slowly so Midnight could keep up, but now she came to a stop. Midnight came up beside her and stopped as well. Leviathan sniffed the air and then tilted her head. Then she sniffed again. Once she knew she was smelling what she thought she was smelling the took off at a dead run for the Inn. Midnight was trying to keep up, but she fell behind. Leviathan wasn't worried about Midnight, they were close enough to the Inn that she could make it just fine on her own.

Once she got in the Inn she began to prowl around slowly. She was trying to separate the scents she was smelling. There were so many new ones that they were clouding some of the old ones. There were more familiar scents then there had been before she left. So many familiars from the years in the SBR. Some that were very new, and even some she didn't like. It took her a moment to pick out the one she wanted.

Returning from a flight of fancy Midnight

Midnight had been keeping up with Leviathan just fine. When Leviathan stopped to sniff the air, Midnight thought she was crazy. But she could smell some of the same smells. She was smelling that wolf. No not Gawain, Midnight really didn't mind Gawain. It was that other wolf. Casandra's wolf. Midnight never could understand why Leviathan always wanted to hang out with him. At least Gawain was human most of the time. She didn't have much use for him when he wasn't, but she hadn't honestly been around him save for maybe once or twice when he wasn't human, if ever at all.

But here Leviathan was going crazy over smelling Kjay. It figured. But what was this ... She was running off and leaving her behind? Leviathan never left her behind. Was it really that important for Leviathan to go play with Kjay. So Midnight started running after her. Not that she could keep up with the big cat. After all, Midnight was only a little house cat. Leviathan was a monstrous beast in comparison.

Once Midnight got inside she saw Leviathan prowling around. She was walking around in circles trying to pick up his scent. Midnight shook her head a couple of times quickly. Then, with her tail and her nose up in the air she headed up the stairs. She was following her own nose. She knew Venis had been moved upstairs. The room that Kahn had gotten for them.

She made it all the way up the stairs and to the right door. Of course she had to smell under a few of them first. She had to make sure she had the right room. Once she found it, the door was closed? Venis never closed the door unless she was sleeping or ... Midnight shuddered at the thought. She pawed at the door and meowed a few times. The door was then opened enough for her to slip through into the room and then re-closed behind her. She went over to her bed and laid down. Her paws were rather sore and she was tired. So she went to sleep.

Once Leviathan had found the scent she was looking for she made her way up the stairs. She went all the way to the third floor. She was sniffing under doors just like Midnight had done. She found Tasha's room, but that wasn't the room she was looking for. Then she found Casandra's room. That was where Kjay had been. She put one big paw on the door and got no response. So she reared up on her back legs and thumped both paws against the door. Still nothing.

She tried to paw the door open. But there was no luck. So she laid down and rolled over trying to see under the door. Once she was down on the floor she realized that he wasn't even in the room. So she began to look for him. She started on the third floor. She sniffed at each door. Kjay wasn't there. She had checked every room.

She headed down to the second floor. She began going back and fourth along the hall sniffing under every door. She came along one door and she could smell Gawain and Airtia within it. She put her paw up and hit it against the door with a thud. Maybe they knew where Kjay was. She could smell a faint hint of him. But for all she knew, that could have been Gawain petting him at one point. Either way, she wanted in that room for a moment. She wanted to see if Kjay was in there.

From outside the door she heard a knock, or more like thud of an animals paw against the door. Moving up away from where she was, Airtia headed to the door and brushed her hair back from her face with a stretch. What she had been doing might have been a bit hard to explain at the moment, but at least she was dressed.

Turning the knob she opened the door to find a black panther outside. It wasn't something you see everyday, but it wasn't something that put her in complete shock.

Leviathan padded into the door a little ways. She sat down in front of Airtia and looked up at her. She wondered if she would remember her. She looked over to Gawain, she knew he would remember her. She looked back to Airtia and moved her tail back and fourth slowly.

She rose to all fours and nuzzled against Airtia's hand, she was trying to get her to remember who she was. As she rubbed against her hand she had a chance to scan the room for Kjay. He wasn't there, but she was happy to find two of her old friends.

She turned and padded over to Gawain and rubbed her head against his hand. She had no other way to let them know she was happy to see them. She let him pet her a little as she rubbed her head against his hand. Then she licked the back of his hand and padded back over to Airtia. She rubbed her head against her hand again, then licked the back of her hand too before she left.

If Airtia still didn't remember her, Gawain would tell her who she was. She had other doors to check. She was going to find Kjay, no matter what

It took a while for her to remember who the feline was, she could place everything but the name. She remembered who the panther belonged to but, for the life of her, she couldn't think of the name. Even while the large feline moved along the room the name escape her.

Airtia watched and even risked a stroke or two when the panther came back around and, as she left out the room, she smiled. She would have to go and see Venis and Tasha soon. That's something this visit did cause her to remember.

Leviathan had gotten to see Airtia and Gawain, she was happy about that. But she was still on a quest to find Kjay. She started prowling from one door to the next again in a criss cross pattern down the hall. One door she stopped at she could smell another SBR member. It was Angel. But she was in such a deep sleep that she wouldn't her Leviathan when she thumped her paw against the door.

Further down the hall there was a door that had animal smells. A tiger and a lab. Not Kjay. Maybe sometime she would come back to meet the tiger, but not this day. There were other doors to investigate. And there was a wolf to find.

She found other rooms that had scents to them along the way. Most of the beings within she did not know. Then she saw a room with an open door. There was a scent from that room, and she didn't like it. She reared back and hunched down. Her ears went back and she hissed as she crawled towards the door.

Once she reached the door she peered around the corner. A soft growl escaped her throat as she looked upon the man on the bed. He was just laying there with his hands behind his head, nothing threatening about that. But his smell made her think that he was not a nice person.

Leviathan didn't enter the room. She knew what he was, he was canine. A werewolf. Just like Gawain, only not just like Gawain. He just wasn't right. But he had some very faint hints of smells to him. The room had familiar scents too. The room, she would figure out the room first.

She never moved from where she stood, hunched down near that door. She picked through the scents, they were male, except one, but she didn't know the female, so she dismissed it. The males, they were familiar. Another sniff, Andrew, Isah, Derek, Joseph, Bo, Jorge, Shamus, and Keven. Venis' employees who were here with them. They had all been in this room recently, and their adrenaline had been high..

Now for the other scents. The strongest female scent in the room was still new to her, so she had to move passed it. The other scents she could pick up that she should have known were too weak for her to make out clearly. It had been some time since the man on the bed had been near them. So she couldn't make them out clearly. But she still didn't trust him. She wasn't sure if she should just walk away before he noticed her, or if she should wait and see if he noticed her.

Benjamin was lounging on the bed, his back still against the headboard and his hands behind his head. To any onlooker it appeared that he was doing nothing but resting there. He hadn't released all of the wires he had placed around Madeline's heart less than a few hours ago and therefore was enjoying the various emotions she was undergoing. They were not very strong, but he could still feel them and it made him smiling.

The smile was still upon his lips when he heard the panther growling at the threshold of his door. He had made no attempt to move, or even acknowledge its presence, as it surveyed the room with its nose. There was no harm in picking up scents, he did it all the time. He only chose to get involved when the cat started growling.

"Don't continue to snarl at me pussycat," he said from the bed, eyes not even bothering to make contact. If his words were not understood then the non-nonsense tone would be relayed. "I missed out on my meal."

((Ok, this get's a touch violent. Just remember, she's an animal.))

She cocked her head to the side and looked at him. She understood his words. And she felt kinda ... bad. Of course, she would think he was talking about actual food. And even thought she didn't think he was a nice person, that didn't mean he should starve. Her fur laid back and her ears came back up. Gone was her snarl and she showed no hint of another growl.

No, instead she stood fully and then sat down for a moment. She still didn't cross into the room. Not yet. No she was taking a moment to think. And it only took a moment. She stood up again and turned to leave. But she stopped. She turned and looked back at him. If she could speak she would have told him to wait right there, she was going to be right back.

She bolted from the doorway. It was a brisk pace that took her back down the stairs, in fact she jumped part way. She headed back outside. Once she was out in the open she hit a full run. Into the woods she began to prowl. Once she had spotted her prey she attacked.

She pounced the unsuspecting rabbit and bit down upon the back of its neck. Her teeth piercing the flesh first then the artery. With a shake of her head she snapped it's neck. She then ran back from the woods, through the garden and back inside the Inn.

Rabbit in her mouth she bound up the stairs to the second floor. She ran down the hall and nearly slid as she tried to stop in front of the broken in door. Then she slowly, carefully, walked into the room. She went over to beside the bed. She watched him very closely as she approached. She would not put her ears back or show any other signs of submission. But she did lay the rabbit on the bed beside him.

She wasn't looking for approval or praise. She made sure that the rabbit was upon the bed and within his reach then she turned to walk away. She held her head high as she left the room slowly. She had a quest to return to. She needed to find Kjay.

Once the growling had subsided he looked towards the door, surprised to see that the panther was still there. Her attitude had changed but he did not encourage further communication. It seemed as though she was considering entering into the room but changed her mind at the last moment.

Still, he did not move and shortly thereafter the panther was gone. Benjamin rested his head back with a slight satisfied smile upon his lips.

It was not too long afterward that the smell of blood hit his nose, and it was growing stronger. Imagine his surprise when he saw the panther approach his door for a second time, only now she was carrying a dead rabbit between her teeth. And what was this? Although cautiously, the panther was bringing the rabbit to him. This got a reaction from Benjamin and he sat up more on the bed, hands down and placed on either side.

As the panther came closer he picked up more of the scents that surrounded her, one standing out from the rest. He didn't know the female by name, but he had picked up her scent on his first day here when he was being faced by a group of people in the Meeting hall. He never forgot a scent. This panther was not that female. A pet perhaps? It could possible be a Familiar.

He entertained that though as the dead rabbit was placed on the bed and, as the panther left out, he managed to get in a "Thank you" before the creature was completely out of sight.

Reaching out he lifted the rabbit by the ears and looked it over with a smile. "What's up doc?"

Leviathan heard him say thank you before she left the room. She had done her good deed. Now the man wouldn't go hungry. She checked the last few doors on this floor before running back to the stairs. She nearly fell over her own paws as she headed down the stairs.

She hit the bottom floor and nearly pounced as she headed for the rooms on the bottom floor. She began her criss crossed pattern again searching for Kjay. She found a door that belonged to Dre. She was happy to find that door too. Her paw came up and she thudded against it. She waited and got no response. Perhaps he was out.

She went a little further down the hall. She found Krystal's scent. She thudded upon her door as well, and once again, no response. She figured she must have been out too. There was someone in her room, but it was a male. He was newly dead and he was sleeping. A yearling she believed they were called. A vampire in it's first year of undead.

She walked away from that door and continued on down the hall. There were still some more rooms that carried scents. All the scents in the Inn were first scents. The Inn was a new construction. The guests that were here were the firsts. There were no marks from those who came before, because no one had come before. That was helping her immensely.

She had finished the rooms on the bottom floor. No Kjay, not even anyone to visit with. She ran from the hallway to the main area of the Inn again. She turned and headed to another area of the Inn. She searched the Lounge. There were fresh scents in there, but none of them were Kjay. He hadn't been there. So she went down to the Meeting hall. He hadn't been there either.

She found the Battle Gym. She headed down to the underground room. Kjay had been there, but the scent was old. He wasn't there now. She couldn't get in the door to see the place. So she lost interest and left. She had to find Kjay, it was driving her crazy that he was here, but not here.

She made her way back out to the main area again. She checked the front desk, the bar, the kitchen. There were various people in various places, but no Kjay. So she headed back up the stairs. She got all the way to the third floor. She went to Tasha's room and considered going in and going to bed. But if she did that she might miss Kjay coming back. She she went to lay down in front of Casandra's door. She would be the first thing they saw when they got back. So she laid down and waited. She even fell asleep eventually.
