Entrance Exam [semi-open] - Page 2 Empty Re: Entrance Exam [semi-open]

Madeline could very well see now why there was a question of letting this insulting little girl stay at the inn. But for the fact Epiphany had a soft spot for stays, Madeline would have turned them away herself.

Madeline eyed the girl coolly. "First of all, the man you just so rudely insulted is a very respected around this inn. But for the fact that you lied about who you were, and the fact you copped an attitude, You would have already have a room right now."

Having said that, Madeline looked at the ledger. "Now as it stands we do not have any rooms big enough to fit the both of you together. So as I see it you have three choices. Sleep in the stables, take two single rooms, or go to another inn. Now why don't you take a minute and talk to your friend and make a decision."

Now the ball was in their court. If they chose to stay, that was fine. If they didn't even better. Light help her if they chose to stay in the stables, Connor would kill her.

Let's talk about things being shady.

Nothing says 'shady' like being passed off from one person to the other. Madeline was now the third person (the first being the mentioned diaper changer that he didn't see) to greet them at the desk to put them through red tape. Would have been better if the person openly said that they didn't like, or trust them. The air would have been cleared between all involved and they could carry on with business. Needless to say that now any activity would be seen as suspicious.

Good thing he wasn't paranoid.

James. He was going to remember that name, never know when he may need an electrician. Though Madeline was asking what she could do for them and then she was getting an attitude with Firefly, what the hell? Next time he might have spared all of them a bunch of trouble and come with her at the start. Might have made things go quicker.

He said nothing about the accusations Madeline was placing on Firefly but when she let go of his hand he used it to give her a right smack on the ass before tapping a finger on the desktop by the silver coins he had put down earlier.

"Madeline." His finger held steady by the coins and he was speaking in a calm manner. "As I told James, I hope this is enough for the room. Do you need more for two?" Room, not stable.

He was only moving things along. He also remembered the room number Lilac had dropped.

Entrance Exam [semi-open] - Page 2 Empty Re: Entrance Exam [semi-open]

Well at least they had seemed to come to an understanding on that. Madeline took a moment and looked at the book. There really wasn't any two rooms close together. Plus she still had the unanswered of why the secrecy when they arrived. Madeline smiled when she saw the room next to Connor's was empty. She would put the girl in that room. Now for the male. Madeline decided to put him in room one twelve. Really for no other reason than the room was available.

Satisfied with her decision, she looked up fro the book with a smile. "That should be fine, however we do not ask guest to pay until they check out. That way any tabs you acquire such as food or drink, will be tallied when you check out."

Madeline looked behind her and took the two room keys off the hook. "Now Miss if you would sign here beside room one hundred-two, and you Sir beside room one hundred twelve. I'll hand you your keys and you may go to your rooms. Go up the first flight of stairs, and you'll be able to find your rooms there. Now there are no private baths on that floor. However, there is a public shower at the end of your hall."

That being said, Madeline held out a pen and smiled so the man and the woman could sign the book. As soon as they were checked in, Madeline would make her way to find Connor. She had a job for him.

Entrance Exam [semi-open] - Page 2 Empty Re: Entrance Exam [semi-open]

All of a sudden, this Madeline was less cute. As Firefly picked up the pen, she smiled warmly to her. The smile she wore was quite convincing if you did not look into her eyes, which seemed to scream 'go die horribly somewhere in a lot of pain, haha!'. She took her time in schooling her emotions and actually acting a bit deferential. She would let this Madeline idiot think she was sorry she had spoken that way. So what? She'd know soon enough.

She signed her name...well, the name she was recently given...on the book, making sure it was spelled correctly and she hadn't accidentally signed 'Hey, f-ck you' instead of Kusunde L. Gavin. After smiling and nodding to Madeline, she turned to her partner and nodded. "Okay, your turn, sweetheart." She had just made up her mind that she'd pull this mission off if it killed her stone dead.

"Then put the silver towards our tab, please." Our tab, not his tab. "I'll pick up her charges."

Unless they had some strange rule about people not being able to pay for another persons bills he didn't see how that would be a problem. Why would they care as long as they were paid? He smiled at Madeline as Firefly was working the pen on the ledger. Watching her, taking in her appearance, she was cute.

His attention was not diverted enough that he missed when Firefly nodded to him. Taking the utensil he scrawled the name, Julian Wade in the book. Done, the pen was dropped in the middle of the ledger and he pushed the book towards Madeline.

Madeline watched as both signed the book. "That'll be find Mr. Wade." Madeline looked at both signatures and handed them their keys. She took the silver coins and placed them in the money drawer. "You and Miss Gavin enjoy your stay."

Madeline would wait for both of them to head for their room before she headed to the stables.
