It had been a while, and she had hit a road block, not a mental one for she knew what she could do, but she couldn’t go any further with her self given mission without speaking to the man. The man with the accent the whole reason she had taken on this side job. Was it still a job when you volunteered to get what information you could, simply to help someone? Anyway, she needed to see him before she could proceed and as she was doing this around her actual paying job, because she had insisted, she thought now that she caught a break she needed to seize the moment.

So seizing it she was, she would slip out of the inn, casting a glance around. It wasn’t that she was looking for any one person in particular, but she hadn’t told anyone where she was going, and oddly some people actually seemed to care about that. It wasn’t that she was trying to keep where she was going a secret, not really, but she also did not want to have to think about why she volunteered like she had. Or why she really wanted to help the stranger. Those thoughts were not coming and she didn’t want to dwell, to many other things going on in that head of hers. A bright green folder, the paper sort, that had pockets on either side of the inside, was held in her left arm. The arm itself was bare, because she was wearing a pastel purple tank top, with a v neckline. A strand of pearls with a purplish-blue tint was double wrapped around her neck, one strand seeming to be longer then the other. A pair of regular ole blue jeans, not the super tight fitting ones but ones that actually fit how they should, ended with bare feet in a pair of black strappy heels. Red locks were pulled back into a pony tail, with just the wisps of bangs loosely framing her face.

She remembered how she got to the genius’s lab the last time, but just in case she got lost, she tucked the business card in her back pocket. The opposite of the back pocket that had her man’s wallet located in it. She could not break the habit, when she had to dress up in business suits, she would use a purse. When she was on her own, the purse was out the door, and the wallet was in the jeans pocket. No bracelets or rings adorned her hands or arms. It would take her a awhile to get to where she was going, but really she wasn’t in a hurry. Not really, she always thought when she was in a hurry to get somewhere it seemed like it took her forever.

After finally arriving at her destination, the lab of the Genius, she would lift a finger to ring the bell. Why did she feel slightly nervous? She had her material’s ready to show him, she had done countless presentations, she was prepared for the accent, she hoped, she could do this. After she rang the bell and stood upon the stoop, her mind was running a mile a moment, which it would always before she gave any sort of presentation. Maybe it was because she was springing it upon the man, but she did not have a phone number that she could of called in advance, she didn’t even know if he had a phone.

The folder in her arm was shifted a bit, there was not a mark upon her arm from where the folder would of dug in, for she had shifted it a bit as she walked. Peeking inside the folder she would just to make sure everything was in there. Including the notes she took after talking to the few residents at the Inn. The Door seemed to be the key, and that thought gave her chills, The Door scared her….and she still had to figure out a gift for The Door if she took the offer it had given, which really was the man’s call.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Sober since St. Patty's Day. Archer had been dealing with this painful reality for almost five months now. He couldn't cure it, but he was a genius. He couldn't just stand around and do nothing until October 1st rolled around. Well, some days he could. On those bad days he stayed in his sweats, getting out of bed just to go lay on the couch for a change of scenery where he dealt with the consequences of not having his scotch to dull the roar of his memories.

Today was one of the better days. He had a couple clients and was busy enough that he had to do some juggling with his time and had nixed sleeping in so far this week. It was a good thing. The more time that Archer's mind spent turning its gears to solve other people's problems, the less time he had to sit soberly with his own.

It was Phase Two, Take Two on problem B when the doorbell rang. Stepping back towards the door to the lab, Archer patted the back of his faithful apprentice. "I gotta get that. Eight more minutes and twenty seconds, you got to keep stirring, alright?" His apprentice wouldn't be his apprentice if he didn't give some tacky teenage lip under his breath in reply, but Archer was used to it. That's what being fifteen was for.

When Archer answered the door Al would see a clean-shaven man with a well-groomed soul patch dressed in a three-piece suit. Vest, no tie. Salt and pepper hair was more tame than it'd been in the past couple months, thanks to a recent haircut. She'd even find that he had his accent back on its leash, the burly brogue was not on the scene besides snippets in certain syllables. All of these were signs of a man who was having a good day. Archer a couple steps closer to his normal self, instead of the migrained mess she'd met when she'd dropped off Gwen's speedy delivery.

"Al, hey there." So he looked surprised. Truth be told he hadn't expected her to come knocking on his door again. Even though she agreed to do research for him, his logical mind figured that with the high-profile job she had time would keep her busy with other things. But just because he was a genius didn't mean he was never wrong. If he was never wrong, his apprentice would be back in the lab stirring Take One, not Take Two. "Off the clock?"

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:29 pm

It would seem like an awfully long time to not do anything. So it was probably a good thing that he did get dressed, hopefully he showered, and got things done. Truthfully it was a good thing that his mind was still working, and that it had not gone on vacation at the time that Archer had been able to have alcohol do its job.

Bright leaf green eyes would blink, just a moment, it wasn’t that she didn’t recognize him. It was that she was expecting him to look much as he had the last time, and well he looked much more put together now. She glanced down from the file in her arms up to him with a small smile. She would hold her question just a moment so that pleasantries would be able to get out of the way.

A almost playful smile formed, not on purpose but because she couldn’t help it. “What did I stay away to long? No longer Lyssia, back to Al. Sorry it took me this long to find any information, but I wanted to make sure I had plenty before I came back.” Normally she wouldn’t of remembered a name that someone else gave her. Mostly because she refused to answer to other names. But she had given him special permission from the get. She had to have a good reason to visit him, at least in the beginning, the first few times. Absently her hand that did not have the file in it, the fingers played with the bottom hem of her blue jean shorts.

Nodding her head she looked back up to him. “Did you break your curse?” She spoke softly, and the fact his accent was under control was not lost on her, but she knew it was still there…somewhere. Hints of it peeked out randomly and that was enough to keep her on his door step. She was the sort of person that kept her word, if she wasn’t she wouldn’t of been good at her job.

The file in her hand wasn’t to thick but it wasn’t on the thin side either. She had collected quite a bit of information. She figured she could tell him what she found out so far. “I separated the items, on the things that seemed more logical then the ones that seemed off the wall.” A pause as she rocked upon her feet just a bit, feeling a bit funny that she had done what she did and brought the information. It was when she glanced at his face, that one could tell he wasn’t fixed. “I also talked to The Door…whom gave me some good information.” Her gaze looked back and forth around, because one never knew whom was listening, if she was going to tell him about the Door he might not want her to do so outside, where anyone, including a random leprechaun could hear it.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Sat Jul 17, 2010 2:22 pm

Better than an elephant, Archer never forgot. So he remembered the exchange they had about her name last time she was here. "Al, Lyssia, Sia, it's interchangeable, right? A rose by any other name, or once some guy with a pen and paper once said." Shakespeare was just alright if you asked him. Because literature was just alright. The genius preferred the non-fiction aisles of any library. When it came to names, Archer interchanged them depending on the day, the time, or the mood. Just ask Arcadia. Or was it Caddy? It was both. Along with one or two other choice nicknames that he has for his sister which we won't list here.

The part about taking so long got a wave of his hand. The free one, that wasn't holding the door open. "No, no, no don't worry about - what?" He'd almost missed that next bit, because she spoke so softly. A pause as Archer replayed the moment in his photographically genius memory, and then a blast of short, hooting laughter. "Cured? No." Another blurt of laughter. "No, no…do I look cured to you?" Okay, so…maybe he did look the part. Tiny oversight on Archer's part that what didn't at all 'look' cured about him was how he felt and how his mental-emotional stuff was operating, which was all stuff that most other people couldn't see.

"C'mon in," he added, nodding back into his place. Which would look pretty much the same as it had the last time she was here, as places tended to do. Maybe a bit more tidied up than it had the last time, since she'd been here last he'd clean up once or twice. Archer stepped back form the door so she cross the threshold, and if she came in he'd shut the door behind her.

"Logical, huh? I'm a big fan but I don't know about the little people." Of logic, he meant. One of the main reasons he was so leery of hocus pocus or any kind of magical creature (like Leprechauns) was because they operated on a different plane of logic than he did. And the logic of the physical, scientific world was Archer's bedrock. Without it he'd be lost. And his year long 'vacation' to the Land of the Dead had made him lost enough for a lifetime, without little punks like Leprechauns adding insult to injury. Archer held his hand out, fingers giving a beckon. "Let's see what you got. No uniform for this delivery?" A fools' grin coupled with the off-hand comment as his dead grey eyes gave her an appraisal while he waited for her to hand over the folder.

His other hand slipped into his pants pocket, pulling out a pocket watch. After taking a gander at the time he yelled over his shoulder towards the direction of his lab. "Five minutes and twelve seconds, keep stirring!" So long as his apprentice listened to him, Take Two wouldn't become Take Three.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

It’s interchangeable right? Now if this man in front of her had been anyone else, but that saveful hand of people that she answered to what they called her, he would of gotten a rather dark look. She might of even took her file folder and turned on her heel. Red heads did have tempers! But he was indeed in that handful, how he got there, was indeed that first meeting. When his Irish brogue rushed over her in waves. It was from that moment that she decided he could call her what he wished. “I guess it is.” The words came out a bit slow as if she had thought about them before they escaped. Shakespeare she had not really read up on the man himself, but back home she had to read Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer’s Night Dream. So the words she recognized them. She also had seen the Leonardo DiCaprio version of the movie Romeo and Juliette.

The first part of his words, she understood, he did not hold it against her that it took her so long to get back to him. He knew she had her job which did eat a lot of time, and she had need for sleep, but for the most part, she used her spare time for gathering information. Except for her time spent in Spider’s room. But that too could end up being a benefit for him, in a round about way, if she was going to go searching out Leprechauns! Bright leaf green gaze studied the man, it wasn’t until her eyes rested upon the skin of his face, near his eyes, that she gave a small shake of her head. “From a first glance you look much more put together. But if one looks around your eyes…” She let that sentence fall, she did have an eye for detail, but did not think that the man needed such a thing pointed out to him, he knew.

Last time she was here they had a full conversation right here in the doorway. Or rather she never stepped over the threshold he moved around on the inside, so when she stepped into the room, it was a different vision. “Thanks.” For inviting her in, not that he had to worry about her being one of the undead, he had not just invited one into his lodging. It was just simply manners that had her not entering a persons abode without their permission. And as it was such, her gaze did dart around the room, a bit, not to much, a flicker here and there.

Laughter, it escaped her, the one thing she had learnt about the man, was that being a genius he would probably adore logic. Head bobbing a bit, “I mean the things that sound like they are better possibilities.” As in she thought that they really sounded like they would work. She let out another laugh, twinkling in its sound. “Drats! I knew I was forgetting something. Should I go change?” A grin punctuated her words. He was lucky she did not offer to take off the non uniform right there, but she had not. The folder would be handed over to him, it was your basic file folder, nothing snazzy about it. Practical, when it came to her work, and side jobs she took on her own, practical was the only thing for it.

When he looked into the folder, the items like Leprechauns only wanted your first born child were on one side. The other side, had the suggestions of the Door, she had written it all down and where she got the information from. The part about her capturing the leprechaun and bartering for his release had a star next to it. That was after all the best sounding of them all, there was another sheet that had been typed up, that had questions upon it with blank lines for answers. Those were the questions she would need answered about the leprechaun if she was going to catch him. Its also where that nice little mark she had gotten from Spider might come into help by helping harness her gifts.

Hopefully his apprentice would listen. The poor apprentice probably had to deal with the mr grumpalumpous Archer, if he had been coming around. And then she blinked, “I can come back later if I am in the way.” She wouldn’t want to take him away from his work.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Sun Jul 18, 2010 8:27 pm

It was when her eyes started studying him that Archer realized his mistake. While he didn't mean to give her an invite to search him for 'sickness', that's just what he'd done. So when she named his eyes, a mood more somber than the sort he liked cast its shadow over him. "Yeah, the eyes. Sounds about right." His were dead when it came to coloring. Lifeless grey, like a severely overcast sky. Windows to the soul, his eyes were a reflection of the time he spent in the Land of the Dead, and all the memories that came with it which he usually drank to 'forget'.

So he was glad to have the folder in his hands, and papers to flip through, and things to read. "No, no need to change it's all good." Could she tell he went the way of the preoccupied as he thumbed through some of the papers? Going into the sitting room, he sat on the back of his couch rather than going all the way around to sit on it properly. Which made him realize, "Have a seat, make yourself comfortable. If you were looking to stick around?" A glance up at her. He realized by asking her in he'd made the assumption that she was going to hang around, when she might've just been looking to make a drop off.

Her next comment, kind of an answer to his question already, threw him off. "In the way? Of what?" Catch him in the wrong moment, and Archer could be as literal as he was logical. He was a scientist. Plus his norm (the norm that she didn't get to see last time) was that there usually wasn't a dark day for his lab. There was always something or other boiling, baking or needing to be stirred, and just like cooks in their kitchens he had a rhythm. And when you had a rhythm, you didn't think about things like stuff getting in the way. Because the band played on no matter the weather.

Speaking of rhythm. Another check to his watch. "Two minutes forty!" Was called out towards the direction of the lab. "Then add the sealant! Two point five ounces, not three!" Three was what they'd tried last time, and yeah…that didn't work out. Hence Take Two.

After he was done yelling instructions to his apprentice, he turned back to the folder. Promptly picking out the piece of paper with the star next to the 'capturing the leprechaun' bit and giving it a twist between his fingers to show it to her. "No offense, and I really mean that, but no. No way in hell am I going to go looking for that little shithead. You know what they say, Al. Once bitten twice shy." Not to mention the fact that Archer didn't want to be in the same room with the nasty little bugger in the first place.

"The firstborn though, that I think I could swing." He was kidding, even if he didn't quite manage his normal jovial tone. Having an heir was one of Archer's most important needs, but not so sacrosanct that he couldn't lay down a wisecrack.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Sun Jul 18, 2010 11:59 pm

She wasn’t commenting on the color or anything of that nature. It was the tightness around them, not the dull gray, not that there was anything wrong with that. Well if you asked her there wasn’t anything wrong with that. Some said eyes were the windows to the soul, but some said other things were. Nor did she see anything wrong with Archer’s dead gray ones either.

A grin slipped over her features, “Don’t say I didn’t offer.” And into the sitting room he went, she could tell he was preoccupied but she had just given him a file full of items. When he sat on the back of his couch she looked at him a moment, it was when he said she could make herself comfortable. She had no problem sticking around, she just did not want to be in his way, he was a genius. She would take steps around to sit on the couch the correct way.

“Of your work.” She spoke and as he was sitting on the back of his couch, she turned on his couch her knees would move to the back of the cushions, her butt resting on the back of her legs, as she watched from a side view. “But as long as I am not in the way….” That meant she did want to stay, instead of going on her way, besides he might have questions or something right? Not that she would say she wanted to stay when she did he might think her a bit odd. Heck if she thought about it she would find herself odd.

At his words about the star paper she would speak up. “Oh! I wouldn’t ask you to attempt to catch the little man. The second page has the details that you remember about him. So I would know what I was looking for.” Yes she did just volunteer to attempt to catch the Leprechaun for him. Or rather attempt to catch the Leprechaun for him. “The Door, tis Epiphany’s Door, it said if I bring it something good it can help me find said leprechaun.” She sounded a lil off about that but she did mean she would do what she could in that instance. If he wanted her too, if he didn’t she wouldn’t do that on her own, especially because she didn’t know what his looked like. His as in it was the one that cursed him.

She let out a small laugh, “I doubt your firstborn would be glad to hear that!” She did not know if the man had kids or not, but that was a subtle way of finding out if it worked. Really she didn’t know much about him. Except he had a to die for accent that he was hiding, but the more time she spent in his company the more chances that it had to sneak out.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Mon Jul 19, 2010 9:34 pm

Having a conversation with Archer was sometimes like having a conversation with a checklist. In this case, the lack of uniform and if she was in the way were checked off in his mind as topics taken care of, which is why he said nothing more about them.

His focus was totally on this leprechaun hunting business. He digested all the information she gave him in his reply - including something about Epiphany's Door, which he'd never had experience with but he'd had plenty of experience with Epiphany and her shenanigans, wasn't that enough? - and he was taking a minute to let all the new information sink in. Replacing the starred paper back in the file folder, on the other side, for now. So he could take a look at this second page she was talking about.

While he scanned the questions over, his free hand rubbed at his chin, index finger stroking the soul patch neatly trimmed just under the center of his lower lip. He was probably one of the few and the proud with a salt-and-pepper soul patch. "Firstborns are too important in my line to give away, even if they sometimes wish they would be." He was thinking of Arcadia when he said that last bit, the Caughey who would readily choose torture over going home.

A glance from the page of questions to his pocket watch. "In four, three, two, ADD THE SEALANT NOW!" Yessir, Archer made sure his apprentice could hear him in the back. He assumed that once the reaction stabilized he'd get an update on how Take Two did. Until then, his attention turned back to Al. "So if I'm hearing you right, if I don't answer these questions here, you won't be able to hunt down the leprechaun?"

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Tue Jul 20, 2010 12:06 am

She liked check lists. She liked lists in general. Lists kept things organized. Everything had its place, and a place for everything. Which was why she wanted to spend more time in the mans company. She wanted to categorize him. Figure out if it was just the accent or something else about him that had her more ... agreeable.

It was probably a good thing that he was actually looking at the information she had, and was not just tossing it all aside without looking. That would of either hurt her feelings or had her ticked off. Or really the truth was, it probably would of done both at the same time, which always makes things worse!! One would not want to see her angry, if she blew her stack, it could get interesting. The lack of control, mixed with a temper, well, it was best that she was mellow for the most part. Least right now she was.

Hey the salt and pepper fit him. Not that she was saying that out loud. No sirree. He had a charm about him. A small nod at his words. “I am sure your first born would be glad to hear that.” Nothing was given away with that comment. She was actually a first born even if her sister was older. She was the first born of their mother, though it wasn’t something that she thought about, in that way.

She did not cover her ears, but she heard him counting and knew he was about to get loud. She had her mind running on other things, but then he asked her the question. Leaning forward so her chest was resting on the back of the couch, she tilted her head just so. “Without the answer to those questions, it would be very hard to find the correct leprechaun. Though I am not sure if I found a different one if it would work.” She let her voice go a bit softer, “I won’t attempt to catch one unless you wish me too.” She wasn’t going to go any further without his words. It was his curse, and she just wished to help, not make things harder on him. She still couldn’t figure out why she wanted to help him so bad, but she did.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:10 pm

"Nah. You need that leprechaun, that exact leprechaun, to strike a deal like that. If I wanted to buy a car from my neighbor John, I wouldn't talk to John's brother to strike up a deal. I might not even talk to John's wife. Even though both of them are relations to John, even though one of them might agree to sell me the car John might not think the terms are right, and since the car's in his name…" A shrug from Archer. "The curse is like that." He figured the metaphor would help. Archer was used to explaining things to people, it was all part and parcel of the whole genius helping the hopeless gig he did to make ends meet. And be a good guy. And keep busy. Serving Conaill didn't take up all his time. Or enough of it.

With that explanation maybe she'd understand why Archer was pulling the sheet of questions out of the folder, holding it out to her so she could take it. "I'm afraid I can't answer those, Lyssia." Maybe that was the 'break it to you gently' nickname. Hard to tell why he used which name when sometimes, but there was method to it. "And I'm going to be honest, I'm not just tryin' t' be some white knight kind of guy protecting you from danger. I'm protecting myself too. I'm not answering these questions for the our collective well-being." Did that mean that Archer believed that if she found the leprechaun in question and tried to wheel and deal him that there would be repercussions? Hell yeah he did.

"And I don't wish you to. Catch one." Clarified after a pause. He stood, closing the folder and putting it down on the back of the couch. Sliding in his hands in his pockets, he started to pace. The back and forth was not not much bigger than the length of the couch itself. Pacing helped him do a couple of things. Think things through, when he was having a rare rough go of it, keep his temper in check, when he was having a rare rough go of that, and articulate. Which he wanted to make sure he did in a way that would keep her from thinking he was ungrateful. Because he wasn't ungrateful. "Catching one is like catching all of them. Kind of like when you kill a bee? It releases a scent in the air that alerts its brethren that one of their own was attacked?" He posed it as a question because he wasn't sure if she knew that about bees. Tricky little hivers.

He wasn't saying anything else about the firstborn stuff. He couldn't. Archer could be more forthright about the state of his life when he wasn't sober. And even though he looked more put together today, he was still sober. Very, very sober.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Now she got what he was saying. She did. But being her she had to input something there. “And even if you talk to John, you know he still would have to talk to his wife….if he wants any peace in his house.” Now his friend John, he might have a more understanding wife, but the wives that she had seen, they would harp and complain and poor John would have to beg to get the car back, before she would go…well you know I really don’t like that car anymore…why don’t you sell it. Fickle. Because she said what she did didn’t mean she didn’t get his meaning, not even a little bit. Her head even nodded when he said that.

When he held the question sheet up, she would take it, fingers grasping it carefully. Not sure why but something about it had her do that, before it was like a change of mind and a crinkle in one hand so it was a nice paper ball now. A small laugh, at his white knight comment, not because she thought it was funny. Well okay she did. “I didn’t think that white knights existed…do they?” If he had glanced next to him, where she was still pressed forward against the back of his couch, he would see that thoughtful look cross her features. “It does make sense…this place had a lot of…odd things going on.” Having been raised on earth as a mortal only to find out she wasn’t a mortal…well things got…weird. “Collective well being is a good thing to watch out for.” It was, she wasn’t just paying him lip service!

She had a feeling that was where he was going with that. So when he said I do not want you to catch one, she spoke the only thing she could. “Okay.” Now some might wonder about her okay, and she figured he did not know her well enough to know she was as good as her word. “I won’t try to catch a Leprechaun. Not even the one that cursed you.” It was just an idea, but…. “If you can think of any other way I can help…I am willing.” Just because one idea was shut down, didn’t mean she was out for the count, no way. Well unless he told her to just go away, otherwise….she wasn’t going to. Her head was watching him walk in the pace, and so when he spoke about bee’s she nodded. “Oh I hate those things! Well the ones that sting. I always swell up right around the area and it turns bright red.” She pulled a face, a quick one that was fleeting though.

That worked, besides talking about states of ones lives could be dangerous!

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Illuminado Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:18 pm

Illuminado, had been grumbling under his breath the entire time he was in the back room stirring their concoction. The Doctor never back seat made things when He asked the boy to do things for him. But for all the teenager knew it was all of Archer's back seat doing that caused the project to work out just fine on the second go, but sure as hell Teenage ego would take hold and Illuminado would claim to hell and back that it was all him.

Where as Archer was comfortable shouting halfway across the building his direction Lumie was more then confidant that was unnecessary. so as opposed to staying in the back Lumie shouted back on his way to the front. "It looks like chewing gum now! It doesn't smell as nice though! What's it supposed to smell like the instructions dont say anything about smell... all it says is chewing gum!"

It was about now that lumie was walking into the room with the two of them, he was dressed rather well, a full three piece suit. not all to dissimilar to Archer's it was sort of a uniform, Archer had told him that a good scientist always looks his best so that when breakthroughs are made you're already ready for the Nobel prize acceptance. sticking out of his back though where a pair of nice and fluffy Foxen tails."Chewing gum doesn't smell bad. IT actually smells nice, did they say what they wanted to use it for?" Clearly Illuminado didn't notice the young lady in the room. well at least immediately. though when he did she was greeted with a little foxen yip."Hi! Um... hi..." a nod offered before he looked back at archer.

He didn't mention there was someone here. and it was a pretty girl; and he had just yelled pout about the smell of chewing gum, the look that was given Archer was a nice stink eye, all of that had hurt his teenage cred at being cool.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:30 pm

"Yeah…." He sounded hesitant. Because he was thinking about the imaginary John and his imaginary wife, and the parallel he was trying to draw between that scenario and leprechaun society. "But I'm pretty sure that leprechauns aren't too worried about peace in their house, if you catch my drift." From his experiences with them, he'd noticed their codes were such that they loyal to their own kind if threatened, but that they'd sell their own kind out in a second if it meant their personal gain. "They're more, 'one for all unless all can be mine'." It was the total opposite way Archer was raised. Reared to act devoutly for the good of all, it might be why he hated leprechauns so much, and wanted nothing to do with them.

As for white knights. "Sure, they exist. My sister dated one a while back. He was a jerk. The kind you'd lay money down for the chance to give them a good punch to the face." But the guy had skipped town before Archer had the chance to reach for his wallet. Which was a damn shame. One of Archer's favorite pastimes as a blood relation of Arcadia's was disapproving of whatever suitor she had at any given time. Including the current one. Dracula Jr.

A sarcastic hoot when she made the comment about stinging bees. "Oh leprechauns sting, believe me. Those feckers sting." Before he could answer the question about whether or not she could help in another way, though, his apprentice started shouting and decided to join them. Lumie came in just in time for Archer shouting back, and when the teenager was in the same room as them it didn't stop Archer from shouting through the end of his sentence, just for the principle of the thing, "It's SUPPOSED to have the consistency of chewing gum, that's what we're going for!"

A brief and apologetic smile flashed in Al's direction. For the shouting. Archer just let Lumie keep on talking, until the boy realized - yup, there it was. The yip of horror, that's what the genius was waiting for. That, and Lumie's glare, told Archer it was time for introductions. "Al, meet my apprentice, Lumie. Lumie, this is Al. She's volunteered to give our freshly made gum a chew, so why don't you break off a piece for her and get a pad and pencil? We'll need detailed notes on her reaction." Had Al volunteered? In Archer's mind she had. She'd said that she was willing to help in any other way, so here was another way. Never knew what a person'd get pulled into once they stepped into Archer's place.

Maybe the gum would taste better than it smelled?

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Tue Jul 27, 2010 11:57 pm

Archer could of just drifted off of the whole concept of the imaginary John and his imaginary wife. The fact that he didn’t was nice. He did not make her feel silly because of her playfulness yet it was true. If John was real and his wife was real, there was a good chance of how that would work, unless well yes. She would give a small nod of her head. “They don’t sound like friendly lil people. Not at all like the ones that they have in the cartoons back home.” She didn’t know if they had them here, the cartoons or the movies, of course there was the horror movie. But she never watched it, except for that small part, but she got distracted. That was before she realized that leprechauns were real, so to her it was a fake horror movie, and it wasn’t something she could wrap her mind around. Now a part of her was wishing she would of paid more attention, because maybe those happy go lucky critters really were more like the other movie. She was raised differently then the Leprechauns as well, else she probably wouldn’t of ever offered to help him out.

He was just ruining all sorts of illusions that she had grown up with. First the leprechauns and now the white knights in shining armor! She blinked. “I thought that the white knights were suppose to be romantic. The sort of men that make women swoon!” As she said the last bit she lifted her arm, the back of her hand pressing against her forehead, with a make believe swoon. The hand did not stay up long though, for it was moved to bend at the elbow and lay against the back of the couch, he was pacing but she was still perched backwards on his couch. The other hand came up to bend at its elbow and lay over top of her other arm. Hand clasping her arm, moving along it a moment as a rub. “Now I am going to have to change my future plans….” Hands lifted as if she was crossing items off a list. “Catch a leprechaun for a pot of gold…negative. Find a white knight and ride off into the sunset…uncheck.” She did have a mental list. Were those items really on there? Maybe.

Hands and arms fell back to the back of the couch. A small nod of her head, when he said that they stung. He would know better then she would. She had no dealings with them. Just the offer that she would attempt, well she would of attempted, now she wasn’t going to. Why? Because its what he wanted, and he was the only reason she would of. It was then that she heard the other voice, bright leaf green gaze would flicker to the doorway, where the voice was coming from. That was until Archer was yelling back at the guy that walked into the room. When Archer gave her that brief grin, it had brought a smile to those lips, not a surprise was it?

Looking at the guy that came into the room, it was the yip that caught her attention again, she gave him a warm smile. Truth be told she was much closer in age to him, then to the one with the accent, even if she acted older most of the time. It wasn’t something she could help. She had grown up way early, over achiever and all that. “It’s nice to meet you, Lumie.” Her smile warmed as she spoke, that was until she heard the rest of Archers words. Blinkage as she turned her gaze to Archer. “This is a lesson right? A don’t tell you that I will help out in whatever way I can huh?” A chuckle. “Your not trying to kill me off for failing at the leprechaun thing are you?” She didn’t think he really would do that, she hoped at least.

A slightly worried bright leaf green gaze flickered to Lumie. She tilted her head in Archer’s direction. “He’s not trying to poison me with the gum is he?” Sure she just met the guy but it was worth asking. One can only hope it tastes better then it smells if it smells that bad!

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Lumie flashed Archer a look, Lumie sounded so kiddy, especially in front of a nice and pretty lady like the one before them. eyes narrowed on Archer for a moment before he flashed her his best nonchalant, smirky grin thing that teenage boys thought made them look cool. "Hey" and a tip up of his chin was offered to Al before Archer pulled the boy's attention back to the task at hand.

"Yes sir, Though i doubt it's going to taste any better then it smells..." He sounded absolutely sure of that fact, and he disappeared again into the other room. The gum like... stuff was in the other room and well Lumie may or may not ahve been afraid of it. which explains why he put on gloves before grabbing Archer's shears and cutting off a bit which he clenched in his gloved hand, while the other hand grasped for his clipboard, which had clipped to it his notes for the day and a nice fountain pen that the doctor had given him.

" I don't think he's trying to poison you. the gum isnt poisonous because I made it this time. the other times it wasn't even gummy, it was just a big pot of stink." There, that was Lumie's little jab back at Archer, he offered thje closed gloved hand out towards her and opened it." Here, if you plug your nose you wont smell it." And when Al took the gum stuff Lumie would pick up his pen and get ready for notes.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:20 pm

"Yeah, well white knights could take a lesson from leprechauns when it comes to 'supposed to be'. Then again, knights are homo sapiens. And homo sapiens take the cake for never being what they're supposed to be." How was that for bringing down the levity hammer? Death'll do that to a guy. Ever since he'd been given this second go at things, Archer'd been walking around with a bit of once bitten twice shy when it came to people. It had been his best friend and old apprentice who'd made the killing blow to his back, after all.

"Right Lumie?" Nothing like asking a teenager to corroborate a blanket assessment of an entire species. But then again while Lumie wasn't human. And where he was from his age as a teenager was actually about six, seven times older than homo sapien teenagers. So while Illuminado wasn't as mature as a human adult yet, still. Archer knew that more years of learning meant more years of learning.

Briefly bending his head, Archer rubbed at his eyes. He was having one of those moments. He shouldn't have opened up the door - mentally or verbally - to the concept of deception and things not being what they seem. It'd caused a chain reaction, that had him thinking some of the thoughts that he depended on drink to chase away. God damnit. He was glad Lumie was answering Al about the gum. Really glad. Because if he'd opened his mouth about it first, he knew he'd have stuck a bitter foot in his mouth when Al'd done nothing to deserve it.

It'd been months that he'd been dealing with the painful reality of sobriety, but that didn't mean it'd gotten any easier for him. A good day could become a bad day real quickly, and the genius was struggling.

Gum. The gum would save him. Remind him that he had something to do today which was important. Too important to let himself sink back into silent, bitter immobility in sweat pants. "There's nothing poisonous about it." Said as he dropped his hand from his face. "Just like there's nothing poisonous about a skunk." He was internally relieved that he'd managed to not be an jerk with his reply. Emotions were something Archer didn't have a great handle on. They were his limitation. He was a genius, he was logical, and he was an emotional wreck.

"If actually prefer that you don't plug your nose. How it tastes is kind of important. Lumie and I can't add ingredients to settle it down if we don't know how it tastes." A pause on Archers part, as he looked between Al and Lumie. It caught up with him, that he'd just asked her to not plug her nose and taste what Lumie'd been insisting was probably going to taste about as good as a rotten egg. Which is why he mustered up a smile and added, "If you want you, y' know. You don't have to taste it." She really didn't have to. Archer wouldn't think any less of her either way, and who wanted to chew on something that they pretty much knew would taste rank?

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:08 pm

Now, he was saying such things about humans, if he would of said such a thing not to long ago, she might have been offended by that. A part of her still was, yet oddly it didn’t effect her as much, because in reality she wasn’t a plain human. Even if she was having problems figuring out things about her new status. So he did not get a huff. “They aren’t all bad….” Speaking of the homo sapiens not of leprechauns or white knights. She had never had her best friend stab her in the back either. A little bit of hope might of shown in her voice.

Bright leaf green gaze went to Lumie when Archer tried to get him to agree with the statement. Curiosity was inherited trait. She came by that naturally.

A small grin when Lumie said that he didn’t think Archer was trying to poison her. Because she didn’t know either one that well and really they both could be plotting her demise, but why would the Genius and his Assistant do such, unless he was a Evil Genius, but the card didn’t say he was. And her sister hadn’t said he was. So she was trusting on their words.

The fact that Lumie was handing her the gum with a gloved hand did not to unnoticed, but she would be brave, the smell of the gum hitting her before she even placed fingers upon it. Nose wrinkling immediately at the smell unable to control that, even as fingers touched the gum. “Thanks, I think.“ A small grin shot to Lumie before she looked over at Archer as he spoke. “But it will help if I do right?” She could do this, she really could, she could be a help in a different way.

Telling her stomach it wasn’t going to have to eat it, she was trying to calm it down, the rolling in there was pretty bad. Her spare hand lowered to her stomach a small rub was given, before pressing flat against it. She wouldn’t plug her nose, because plugging one’s nose would alter how something tasted. She wished she had taken a deep breath first before Lumie had gotten so close with the gum and she had taken it. Closing her eyes she lifted her hand with the gum, and popped it into her mouth. She would give it a chew, to get the taste, even as her eyes squeezed shut tighter, and the look on her face, one would be able to tell that the stuff tasted horrible. She thought she deserved some credit for not spitting it out right away. Almost a gag, before she chewed again, but she did not gag. Good gag reflexes. That was enough to get the taste stuck in her mouth, and she didn’t want to talk with it in her mouth either, there was a better chance of swallowing some of it then, more so then she had already gotten tainted saliva from. Hand lifted upwards, as she spit the gum into her fingers. When she opened her eyes they were watering…but that should have been expected.

“I don’t know if there are words to describe how that tasted.” Really she wasn’t sure if there were. Not much help was it. “Perhaps if you mixed up rotten eggs with curdled milk with a few sprinkles of rotten garbage.” Not that she had eaten such things, but that’s what she imagined that would taste like. “A compost pile! That’s the closest thing.” Now she wasn’t proud of it, but she had ended up tasting dirt from a compost pile, but that was due to a experiment at a party and well yeah. At least this time she wasn’t throwing up. Yet.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Illuminado Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:32 pm

Lumie shuffled his feet when Archer asked him that question. It was true, that alot of the things Lumie did to help the doctor involved stopping alot of humans who where being greedy, selfish and or stupid. and through that mucking up things in time.

The teenager tapped on the clipboard with his pen before speaking up. "The Doctor said that even though humans are one of the most brilliant species int he universe. Most of the things we go and fix where caused by them." At least they where in his opinion. that was most of what he saw.

A nod from the young boy who kept his eyes on the clipboard, ready to take more notes. peeking up from above the clipboard when Al put the gum in his mouth.

When the gum was popped into her mouth Lumie's pen went a mile a minute, taking down note on everything from the faces she made, to how her body reacted. and even what she said after she pit it out. rather excited of that fact."You've helped Archer and I make a breakthrough... in Science." the clipboard was then offered over to Archer so he could see Lumie's notes.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:42 pm

Looking at Al, Archer pointedly cocked his head to the side to indicate the teenager who was speaking about the mess called the human race. Unlike his brother the Doctor, Archer didn't need a time machine and to go all over space to know about the brilliant/stupid dichotomy that humans had going on - he'd experienced it firsthand plenty thanks to Elijah (his former apprentice) and the Order (his former nemesis). Not to mention he was human himself, and he knew too well what a specimen in shambles he was.

"Thank you Lumie, for backing me up. I think I smell a bonus in your paycheck." To show just how serious he was, there was Archer pulling out his wallet. Popping it open, he took a look at what was inside and handed Lumie three bills. It was about double Lumie got paid per week, so the teenager earned himself a windfall. And an early payday. "Don't spend it all on your guuuurlfriend." He grinned as he razzed the boy, reaching up and messing up Lumie's cool kid 'do.

While Lumie was taking those tons of notes, Archer was making his own set of observations. Not on pen and paper because he didn't need to - he didn't forget anything, so why chance missing something in her reaction because he was looking down at a clipboard? His expression was passive while she went through the seven stages of disgust. When Al spit the gum out, he looked down at the chewed wad in her hand and then back up at her with obvious disappointment. Maybe too obvious. "Not going to help us out by seeing how long the taste lasts?" Was he serious?

Archer took the clipboard from Lumie, echoing the boy's words but with a spin that sounded tongue-in-cheek. "Yeah…a break-through…" Grey eyes moved back and forth as he read over the teenager's observations, marking a couple with a pencil. Those were ones that he didn't think were observational facts, but more presumptions based on what Lumie had seen. It was something Archer'd been hard on the boy about ever since he'd asked to apprentice. How to observe without making judgements instead of facts was one of the hardest things to learn about being an objective scientist.

"…the gum takes like shit." Thus concluded the break-through. Flipping over the page, Archer scrawled out a new formula. Quick, but watching his handwriting to make sure Lumie could read it. They'd already had an explosion in the lab once when Lumie misread Archer's f for a t. Once he was done writing, he smacking Lumie lightly in the chest with the clipboard to hand it back to him. "Phase Two Take Three, try that. Don't add the last two ingredients until you're six and a half minutes into stirring or they'll totally evaporate."

That done, Archer turned back to Al. He was trying hard not to smirk, or laugh, or anything that would show just how entertained he was that she'd actually chewed on that gummy sludge. "Need a mint, or a shot, or a barf bucket?"

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:12 pm

A pointed glance over to Lumie, she had to ask, because if he was busy fixing the things that humans did wrong he might be able to answer her question. The tone of her voice was sugary sweet. "The places that you go to fix the human mistakes....are they places that are full of humans? Are they the majority?" Because if they were it was easy to know why. Every species had the people that you didn't want to claim as one of your own. The boy was lucky, she was on one side of the couch, for she hadn't moved from that spot, and she had the gum in her hand. It kept her from being flirtatious with the guy as she talked.

A roll of eyes hearing Archer, but she didn't have her purse and a ton of money on bribe the teen onto her side. Not on the ready though she was taking notes. Mentally. She did not have a photographic memory but she did have a good one, it got her through things. Probably how she did her job so well. Those greens lingered on Archer a moment longer then normal before they shot to the other guy, most guys seemed to blush when they were called out in that way, and curiosity got the best of her.

Then those eyes snapped back to Archer, the smell of the sticky substance in her hand was still rather toxic, and he was giving her grief about not chewing until the taste was gone. One finely arched brow shot upwards. "If your serious you can kiss my...." now here most people would think she would say her deary aire but nope, "tattoo." Ha. Okay it wasn't just a normal tattoo it was a power marking, but he didn't have to know that and it wasn't like she was going to show him where it was, especially at the moment...but it could always be an option. Especially if he talked to her first, him with his accent when he let it out, could get her to do just about anything. Not that she was going to tell him that! And she would make a mental note that she needed to visit Spider soon and give payment for the marking.

She felt her lips quirking at his predicament, it did taste that bad maybe even worse, there was always something worse around the corner right? She had said she would help! He would learn that she keeps her word, even if it wasn't something she was looking forward to doing. "A shot and something to dispose this with would be great." But then she thought about that. "I mean a mint...I wouldn't want to..." She fumbled the words she didn't want to drink in front of Archer knowing when he drank it wouldn't do anything for him. "If you don't mind I think I need a shot to kill anything that your gum left in my mouth." One could tell by looking at her face, when she wasn't talking that it had a hell of an after taste.

Lumie's eyes where on his shoes for a moment when Al asked ehr question of him, but then he looked back up. " Not always, but alot of the times it is. and more then that, it mostly happens with humans from Earth, I think its because they're more brave there, because its their home... and you're always more brave when you're at home then anywhere else."Lumi offered that with a nod , eyes moving to Archer and lighting up like a christmas tree when he said lumie was getting a bonus.

"Thank you!" and he took the money and put it safely i his pocket before he mumbled to himself. "She's not really my girlfriend..." That thought though was immediately forgotten when ARcher offered over the clipboard. eyes scanned the page and he gave Archer a nod"Yes Sir!" a smile to the Lady and a wave."It was nice to meet you miss." a wave followed and Lumie was on his way to the back of the Lab.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by Archer Caughey Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:11 pm

Did Lumie really think Archer didn't catch that mumble? Ah, young love. Always so crazy with complications. And drama. But then again, Archer's own love life was about as smooth as the Hindenburg's first (and last) flight, so he really wasn't in any position to give advice. Still, as he watched the boy go back down the hallway to start Phase Two Take Three, Archer made a mental note to have a talk with him after Al left, just to see what was up. That said, if Al had flirted up the sixteen-year-old it might've busted Archer's gut. Hey, free entertainment was free entertainment.

If only he had a ton of money. As Archer slid his wallet into his back pocket, he was all-too-aware of how much lighter it was. He paid Lumie modestly for the help the boy gave him, more like an allowance than a livable wage. It wasn't that Archer didn't want to pay him more - most of the time he just plain couldn't. But right now he was a little busier than normal with clients, so paying Lumie off for agreeing with him was just Archer jumping on the chance to give the teenager something closer to what his help was truly worth.

Once Lumie was gone Archer's attention went back to Al. And he was already shaking his head. "Noooooo thank you, I have myself one of those. I know what those damn marks are capable of, I wouldn't trust a tattoo as far as I could throw it." Well, technically his wasn't a tattoo, it was a totem tribal mark that Arcadia put on his back to help keep the dragon side of the Source inside of him bound and caged…but still. How did Archer know that Al's wasn't one of those too? Answer: simple, he didn't. Hence his reply.

"There's a garbage can right over there." By the desk in this front room. Archer was heading over to the armoire, because sitting on top of it was a half-filled bottle of scotch and two glasses. There was a similar bottle of scotch and glasses set-up in every room of this house. Since St. Patty's day, most of them had been neglected. But the one he was pouring from now didn't have a speck of dust on it, which says that it's seen activity.

"Wouldn't want to what?" He prompted that as he poured. Archer was a man of logic, and as a man of logic he knew that there were thousands of ways Al could end that sentence. Making an assumption out of it was absolutely out of the question. Just terrible scientific practice. And he couldn't risk Lumie overhearing him practice bad scientific practice, not when he was trying to break the boy of his own bad practices.

"Here you go." Glass was held out to her, he'd poured her a double. "Though honestly, there's so much bacteria in saliva that I'm sure that whatever's foreign presence is trying to colonize in your mouth is being beaten down." Comforting, right?

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Post by ♥Allissya♥ Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:09 am

Lumie did prove her point though! He said it was places where humans were more popular. The largest place was Earth, where humans were the only race of people that were openly out, so if anyone messed up your chances were 99% it was a human. Al herself was from Earth, give or take how one wanted to look at it, and some of the people she had met, well it was easily believable. She would shoot Lumie a smile before turning a look to Archer. It was almost a I-told-you-so look. Bright greens danced over to the younger male again. “It was nice to meet you as well.” A smile would be given.

Once Lumie left the room, she glanced around a moment before they landed upon Archer again. Really she was the sort when speaking to someone that happened to look at them. Unless there was a reason she wasn’t, or if she was uncomfortable about the conversation, and that took a lot, she looked to whom she was speaking. No confusion there.

Laughter. It was slipping out of her. There was no hiding it. It was his reaction. Really it was priceless, and her laughter was not the dainty laughter it was a rolling gut laughter. When it started to calm down her hand that did not have the gum in it lifted to cover over her mouth. “Well….I am guessing it depends on the person wearing the tattoo on how far you could throw it.” She would not eyeball the good genius up to figure out any sort of strength he had to be throwing people. She wouldn’t. She didn’t. She was being good! For the moment. So using his words he would trust some tattoo’s more then others, simply because of the throwing! Okay so maybe she did just a wee bit but it wasn't obvious.

A smile was flashed when he pointed out the garbage can as a way of thanks, as she hopped up from the couch, and made her way to the can where he pointed it. Fingers working to get the gummy substance off her hand, thumb and forefinger rubbing at the substance until it landed into the garbage can. Once the gum finally released its sticky hold she pressed her thumb to her forefinger, before casting a glance to Archer. “May I use a sink to wash my hands?” She wasn’t one to just go exploring the first time she was invited into someone’s place, even if they ran their business out of it, that wasn’t her style. Maybe the second time.

Of course, he would call her on the unfinished sentence, that was just her luck. Well, she started to say something and now she would have to finish it. She could of changed what she was going to say but that wouldn’t be honest, and that was something the girl was, sometimes to fault. “I wouldn’t want to drink in front of you when it is not a friend to you right now.” Not that she didn’t think she could handle a shot or so, but she felt it might be a tease and she didn’t want to do that to him, or to anyone really.

Unsticky hand slipped out to grab the glass, “Thank you.” That was said before he said the other thing about saliva. That had her nose wrinkling upwards, lovely, now she was thinking of some things that well she didn’t want to think about. “Thhhannnkks….I think I could of done without that bit of knowledge.” She was going to think twice before she swapped saliva with someone again. Maybe. The glass was lifted and she downed it. Completely downed it, making the slightest of faces when she lowered the glass. A small grin. “Thank you I needed that.” The taste of the gum was gone, and that was what counted.

“What’s the goal with the gum?” She figured if she was testing it, at least that last batch who knew if she’d be there for the next one, but it would make sense to use the same guinea pig to compare if the taste of it was any better.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

The kind of smile Al got then was sly. Wasn't every day Archer smiled at a lay person like that. It meant science was coming. "I was actually going off the given that it's attached to the person, so I really can't throw it at all. Throwing the person, the person moves while the mark itself stays stationary on its local body. So while the person could relocate to a different greater geographic space, like here or down the road or the next town over, the tattoo's relative local geography on said person's body remains the same. Planets orbit, for example. Right now the planet we're standing on is in a different location in space than it was when you first got here. Do you feel like you're somewhere else, or do you just feel like you were in the same place you were when you got here?" That was probably a whole heaping of more than Al bargained for. But Archer got to the point, finally. "In a nutshell, what I'm saying is I don't trust tattoos. At all." The end. Punctuated by one of his more usual fool's grins.

Which he followed up with a shrug. "I'm Irish. Nothing could change the fact that drink is my friend." Which is probably why there was no dust on the bottle he'd poured from a moment ago. Just because the scotch couldn't get him drunk, that didn't mean he wasn't drinking any of it. He still drank it, for the small solace the familiar act could provide, he just wasn't drinking anywhere near as much as he normally did. More like shots of remembrance. "Your welcome. You should be glad for your spit, keeps you healthy whether you know about it or not."

Was he surprised at how smoothly she was able to pour the liquor down? Maybe. He offered out his hand, to take the empty glass off her hands so she could wash them as she'd asked. "Sure. Go left around this corner here," Archer was indicated the hallway where the front door was located, "and you'll see a washroom first door on the left." Which was literally that. A small sink and a toilet, the bathroom for guests. A bit farther down the hallway there was a door on the right which was his den, and that's when the hallway made a sharp left to led to the rest of the rooms in this one-story. On her way to the bathroom, a smell similar to the gum she chewed would catch her nose. Down that left wing was where the labs were located.

As for the gum, that was tricky. She could see him wear the hesitation like a new scarf, a tilt of his head and roll of his shoulders as he drew out the first two words to give him time to figure out how best to answer, "The gum's.....to help out a client." Spilling what that gum would be able to do when it was done would actually hinder its functionality, which is why Archer had to keep himself vague. Even Lumie didn't know what the gum was for, not entirely.

Checkin’ In….with the Genius Empty Re: Checkin’ In….with the Genius

Now, she would take any sort of smile she could get from him. One had to expect to get science lessons did they not when they were spending time with a genius. Actually if he didn’t give her a few lessons, not saying she would remember them word for word, she might of felt a bit put out. So when he spoke she gave a nod of her head, when he was done with the lesson, didn’t want him to think that she hadn’t paid attention. He didn’t just ask a question did he? Whew, no questions she wasn’t totally screwed. It wasn’t that she wasn’t paying attention but she was also day dreaming just a bit, it was his own danged fault, there was that hidden accent that popped out occasionally on some words. “Everyone is entitled to their feelings.” A grin, she couldn’t help answer his fools grin with a grin, not at all.

Now, he had a good point, she just hadn’t wanted to rub it in. Heaven forbid if her mother knew she could handle her alcohol, at least she always had been able to before. Hopefully that didn’t change. Only time would tell such a thing. “Yes, I am rather glad for my spit. Plus it keeps me from getting dry mouth.” She pulled a face, she had gotten that a time or two, especially when she was sick and she hated how it felt.

When he offered his hand for the empty glass she would return it to him. “Thank you.” For taking the glass, and then he told her where the bathroom was that she could use to wash her hand. A nod of thanks for that, she did not want to sound like a record on repeat. Did she expect him to answer about the gum? Not really, she figured there was some secretive stuff going on, but that was normal wasn’t it? When one took in a client you couldn’t share what was going on. “Well as long as your not trying to kill me…” A almost playful wink was given before she turned to go around the corner.

Once around the corner she followed it, even getting a bit of the smell, and causing her face to crinkle, and then she saw the first door on the left and she went inside. Once inside she did not shut the door for she wasn’t doing anything but washing her hands. If she had to make use of the toilet the door would have been closed. Water would be turned on, a bit of soap was used upon her hands before she rinsed them, and turned off the water. Took a moment to find the towel which she dried her hands upon, before straightening the towel as if she had never used it, safe for the wet spots. Once she was done she slipped from the room and back to the room where she left Archer. She did not wander or peek anywhere she shouldn’t of.

In the room she would glance over to Archer. “I am not going to grow a third arm or be unable to have children in the future because of this gum am I?” Things she should of asked before she jumped aboard, but now she was asking it, hoping that nothing horrible would be happening. “While a third arm could always come in handy… depending on where it was growing from…..” A playful grin, but honestly she didn’t want any extra appendages.
