{It's a shop so, anyone who wants to shop can have at it!}

As rumor had it, there was this quaint and little ---- well, perhaps it wasn't that quaint if going by the rumors ---- shop that had everything! Though that last bit may have simply been an advertising ploy because, let's face it, what place can have everything when the universe was so vast! The place would have to be ginormous! But, from this elves' vantage point, atop the hill looking down, the shop didn't look that big. Maybe like it belonged in Diagon Alley with all the bits and bobbles and strange things he saw along the outside, so maybe it was bigger inside than out.

He wasn't going to brush it off just for how it looked!

Therefore! And therefore....

He puffed up his chest under his tunic and cloak - it was amazing how one pair of clothing can continue to last and last... - and started down to the shop!

Being that this place had 'everything' he was hoping that meant more than items and that it held information too! His 'Operation: Go Home" had been a disater and another was steadily approaching, perhaps he could get some information about the portals or get a locater device. Something.

Alayan was nearly there and he stuffed his hand into his left pocket to see what was inside. What he pulled out was a few pieces of lint, a bottle cap, a strip with a lipstick kiss (where in Eru did that come from?!?!), and a couple copper marbles. Well, okay, so he might not have had anything good, but he was going on the belief that you can neer know what a person may love to have!

Confidently placing the meger items back in his pocket he strod, turned the knob and -------!!!

It opened? Yes?

Yes it opened. But unfortunately for the elf, it came to an abrupt stop before it was opened wide enough to be considered fully opened.

Mary's has everything ... It wasn't just the young elf who had heard such a thing. It was this very reason that inside the cluttered location, one could find a women with two men.

The woman, standing five foot five and a hundred and twenty-seven pounds, with jet black hair pulled up in a pony tail to fall almost to her knees, and chocolate brown eyes, had been sent shopping. She wore a coral colored crop top with a button close front and an open weave design. The short sleeves had a ruffle on the ends and the bottom had a ribbed hemline to allow for a more secure fit. She paired this top with a pair of low rise jeans and a pair of coral colored Christian Louboutin peep toed sling backs.

Going to Mary's! Th_CoralcoloredcroptopGoing to Mary's! Th_cl-shoe

And the two men who accompanied her both wore plain T-shirts, one blue and one green. Both wore jeans and white tennis shoes. It wasn't a uniform, it was just what they were comfortable in.

Keven, the shorter of the two men, wearing the green T-shirt, would be able to be seen through the section of the door that was open. And when the door was opened, he turned around instinctively.

This was because he knew that the other two were behind him as they navigated the store. "Crap!" He exclaimed when he saw the door open. And then he moved to go behind the door and asses the damage done by the door opening unexpectedly.

William, the other male, wearing the blue shirt, had stopped to look at a jar on a shelf. This had made him fall a few steps behind. But when the door opened, he mirrored Keven's shock. "Oh no." He too moved to the space behind the door with a quickness.

The reason for the two men to exclaim panicked words was the same reason for the door having not fully opened.

Catrina Mae Masterson, Cat to her friends, the self proclaimed 'Queen of Klutzes', had walked in front of the door just as it opened. Which wouldn't have been a problem, except the door opened and smacked her square in the face.

Her hand went right to her nose. "Oh!" Said a bit nasally as she took a step back. She could feel the blood starting to run. And it came quite quickly.

Keven and William reached her and moved her back from the door way. This would allow the visitor to open the door the rest of the way. William helped her tilt her head back while Keven scanned for a place to sit her down. And they were both looking for a towel or napkin, a paper towel, anything to put on her nose.

With that nasally voice, she tried to speak to the two men. "It's ok, Tasha can fix it when we get back to the Inn. It's not broken that badly. I should watch where I am walking. I didn't go around the area where the door would be if it opened." Her blood was starting to run down her arm and drip off her elbow.

While her head was back, she was bent forward. She didn't want to get blood on her coral colored shirt. So far, so good. She wasn't sure how to get blood out of colored clothes. It was a good thing that Penelope had stayed behind at the Inn. The purple Pindragon would have never let her live this one down.

William stayed with Cat while Keven went to find Mary. Their quest for plus sized clothing having to be put on hold for a little while. They had to see about Cat's nose first. Her eyes were already starting to blacken. William could only think that Tasha and Alecia, the other two Masterson sisters, were going to kill him and Keven for this. But at least the elf could get into the store now. Keven was a little worried that the guy would be upset over having to wait for them to get Cat away from the door so he could get in.

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Typically, when the door is pushed, and it's found to be open, the person doing the opening continues in the forward direction of going inward. This is what Alyan did! Therefore, when the door opened he started right on in ---- and when it stopped abrupty because it hit someone on the other side, this elf walked slam dunk into the door!

Well now, this caused it's own chain of events on the other side. By walking into the door the collission made him bounce back a few steps and, since his hand was still around the door knob, the thing pulled back with him and resulted in it being slammed shut! The unexpected slam resulted in his hand letting go of the knob and he stumbled backwards from shock and landed right on his rear end!

What, in the name of Eru, just happened there!

He knew nothing about the bloody nose mess that was goingon inside, that he had actually hit someone wasn't even a thought in his mind! What he did wonder about was why the door decided to stop opening and result with him on the outside ground.

"Now you just hold on a minute, door" picking himself off the ground, Alyan dusted off his clothing and then his hands. "I was just about to make a full barvado entrance! You can't go spoiling things like that!" He certainly didn't expect it to respond or answer in any way, it was a door, they were inanimate objects. They don't talk.

He pushed back his hair and shook his hands as he approached the door again. "Now, lets us try this again shall we!" Clearing his throat, he put his hand to the doors knob, turned, and opened the door again. Prepared to do his entrance a second time!

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Post by Telguest Sat Aug 13, 2011 11:52 am

'Mary's has everything,' Was the word on the street and oh, how the people flocked by the dozens just to see if it was true! Day and night and all hours in-between there wasn't someone or another who wasn't coming in search of that elusive thing that their heart desired. Some found they were looking for and some found they didn't want what they were looking for in the first place but in the end everyone left Mary's shop with a smile on them faces.

Teh only question left now was what these newcomers were wanting. . . and would they find it?

There once was a saying that teh walls be having ears but here at Mary's teh walls had eyes too. Ears be doing no good without seeing what was comin' for yah. . . At any rate located upon the top of one of the many, many shelves that spanned the walls of this small, crowded shop and stashed amongst the clutter there sat a short, squat glass jar filled near to the brim with a clear liquid. Surely it was nothing to look at - until the person looking realized that it was a'lookin back at them! For nestled in the bottom of this jar was a pair of oddly familiar honey-bright eyeballs . . .

Left widely alone (for obvious reasons) these eyes turned and roamed to observe the coming and goings around the shop more specifically the trio that was now wandering along the shelves. What be this? A woman with her bodyguards? Interesting, vaery, interesting. Unless spotted, and even afterwards because what could you do to a pair of eyeballs in a jar, these eyes watched as this trio made their way 'round the shop right up 'til the woman was hit smack in the face by the entrance of another! "There be rags in bin numbher four and chairs in aisle five." The heavily accented voice of Mary floated all around them, but where was it coming from? Well that was for her to be knowing and them to be ignoring! "Teh sink in the corner warks as well." The voice spoke slowly with obvious strain, as if speaking was painful, but at least it was being helpful! As for actually seeing Mary? Well, they could look all they wished but until the pint-sized shop owner wished to be seen she would be nowhere to be found.

And as for the elf out on his rump outside . . . "Don't yeh have some sense in yehr head? Yeh are supposed to be opening doors slowly! We're people too!" And if this young elfling didn't think doors talked he was in for a surprise as the door suddenly sprouted a face! Glaring eyes and a frowning mouth all made by what had before looked like simple designs on the door itself proved this wasn't a happy door! Could you really blame it after the abuse it had just suffered? And if that wasn't injustice enough this dim-witted boy was going to try it again! When the elf grabbed onto the door's knob he would be hearing a warning growl coming from the door . . . he'd better be letting go if he wanted to keep his hand!

It was just another typical day at Mary's . . .

The voice was heard loud and clear by the trio within the shop. None of them gave it a second thought. Given who the men were employed by, they were used to voices seeming to come out of nowhere. So when it was said that there were rags in bin number four, Keven headed right over to the bins. He started searching for pure white cloths. Colored cloths were bad for bleeding.

And when it was said that there were chairs in isle five, William moved Cat very carefully to where he was directed to go. He found her a chair that she could sit in and tilt her head back. He knew she didn't want to get blood on her top. But he wanted to make sure she was positioned right to stop the bleeding.

The voice mentioned that the facet in the corner worked. So when Keven had two white rags, he went to the sink. He got one of the rags soaking wet, and rang it out very well. Then he joined Cat and William in isle five. Cat was sitting with her head back. So he started to wash her arm off for her.

Catrina moved her hand from her nose, and brought up her other arm to pinch her nose shut. This made is easier for Keven to wash her arm off. She spoke in her newly nasal version of her voice. "Wiw, can ou go see if I urt da door?"Yes, even in her current state, she was worried over damaging the door.

William took of to go back to the door, he heard it speaking to the being outside that had opened the door. He snickered and shook his head. He examined the door where it would have made contact with Cat's face. He was looking for dings in the wood, blood splatter, or anything else they could have done to the door with her face.

While William examined the door, Keven washed Cat's face with the wet rag."You know we have to set this before it starts to heal wrong."He so did not want to be the one to do this. He took the clean, dry, rag and rolled it up."Here. Say ahh."He held it to her mouth for her to bite.

Catrina would have wrinkled her nose if it didn't hurt so bad. But with a sigh, she opened her mouth and bit down on the rag. Then she closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable pain that she was sure was to come. She felt Keven's fingers on her nose and she took in a deep breath. She held that breath while he fixed her nose. The feeling of the cartilage moving back into place made her scream into the rag. The rag muted the sound for her.

Keven felt so bad, but at least her nose was back in place and the blood was cleaned up. He noticed that there was still some blood running, and he wiped it away with the wet rag."Still bleeding. Here, put this here."He pressed the cloth to the bottom of her nostrils. He was waiting for William to come back with news of the door.

If he wasn't suppose to open the door, how would he ever get in to see if this place had what he wanted!

This facial door had not said anything about the people on the other side - or he simply was in too much of a state to comprehend any of it - so therefore he thought it was this door that was the one behind him falling. He wa an elf and had seen his fair share of magical things - even if this one had a face on it. Although! Being that there was something to look at besides simple wood could make this all the better for him! So much easier to charm a face.

Alyan's hand was on the door's knob but when he heard it start to growl at him? Bet your nelly this guys hand came off and then both palms were held up in sign of surrenderance. "Hey, hey, heeeeeey, let's not be so hasty now." Time to put on that witty smile and cue on the pearly whites! He rocked back on his left heel before taking an inch step forward. "I didn't realize I was tangling with such a magificent piece of work like yourself or surely I would have been about your opening in a much more suitable manner."

What a sad day it would be for him if he failed to charm wood. Damage to his charisma would have to be taken into account then, not to mention the poor elf's pride.

With a flourishing bow he wentn on to say, "So let me start again by first saying, 'what a lovely grain of wood you are; would you kindly let me enter?'"

And by the Eru, was this elf putting on his charm! If only he had known about the people indoors.

William was examining the door as per Catrina's request. He saw no dents or chipped paint. No damage what so ever from what he could see. So he chose to shout out to Keven and Cat while he took a closer look. "I don't see anything! Where exactly did you hit?" He ran his hands over the door to feel for possible dents.

Keven chuckled when he heard Will shout. Anyone within ear shot probably heard him. So he looked at Cat and saw her shrug at him. So he chose to shout back to Will.
"She doesn't know for sure. So if it looks clear to you then just come on back." He wasn't sure what else to say or do. He pulled the cloth away from Cat's nose to check for blood.

Cat figured that her nose would be stopped bleeding by now. But she was content to let Keven check it for her. She hadn't had a chance to see if she had gotten any on her blouse yet or not. But she figured someone would have said something if she had. At least now, whomever had been in such a rush to get in the door could enter?

Unless that girl had one hard head on her there wouldn't be any dings or dents or even a splatter left on the inside of that door! Nope, no sireee - it was as the same as when they came in - faded blue from the sunlight that streamed in from the large windows and covered in chipping paint that showed it's age.

The outside of the door looked largely like the inside - though perhaps a bit more faded from the elements, though under all the snarling and growling it was doing it was rather hard to tell! Though it appeared the elf had gotten the hint and had started to back off, but what was this? The elf was trying to charm the door? The snarling face shifted, subtly at first as it went from 'I'm going to eat you' to one of barely conceal amusement with even an eyebrow raised! Was this young one serious?

Boy oh boy was the door going to let this elf have a peace of its mind --- right until that slow accent laden voice cut in before the poor door could make another sound - "Daen't pay aeny attention tae him. Coem in, Coem in. . . I have been waiting fer yeh."

Look at that! Perhaps he hadn't lost his charm after all! The door was going to let him in, and it was a good thing too because he couldn't think of any more ways, off the top of his head, to charm wood.

The last two times he had opened the door, he had gone about it in a quick way in order to make a grand entrance. This time he would go about it differently. His grand entrance would have to be revamped! That was fine, he'll find another way. He always did.

Anyway! It was time to open the door and he put his hand around the knob, twisting it with care and proceeded to open it slowly. First it was a crack, then a bit more, happy he was to not find any resistance. He got the door open enough to poke his head through and what did his eyes behold --- people on the floor.

And the one at the door whom received a glorious smile from the elf.

"Hello there! Bit of a jam we have here, isn't it?" He said, confused indeed as to why someone looked to be sitting on the floor. But what did he know, right? For the moment he was only a dark green-haired elf with his head peeking in the door!

William wasn't so much sitting on the floor as he was knelt down tying his shoe. But it was a simple mistake for one to make. When the door began to creep open he looked up to see who was coming through it. "Oh, hello." He smiled and stood up. He didn't know the guy, but it never hurt to be polite.

William returned to his short jaunt back to isle five where Keven and Catrina were. Keven looked over at him as he approached. "Busy place today, huh?" He had heard William speaking to someone. William just nodded as he took a look at Cat's nose. He smiled when he caught a glimpse of her lovely eyes.

The bleeding had stopped and her face was clean of blood as well. She smiled and got up from the chair."I'll be fine. I don't even think Tasha will have to fix it, I sound a little funny, but that because of the swelling. I didn't get any blood on my clothes, did I?" She started to examine her clothes.

Both men helped her check and shook their heads. When it was discovered that she was blood free they began to wonder the store again. They were looking for something specific, but they had heard the voice of who they presumed was Mary, saying that she had been expecting the other guy.

They had no problem with looking for what they needed by themselves. They might even find other things that they wanted or could use. If they found that they needed help, they could ask when Mary was done. After all, she had been expecting the other guy so it must have been important.

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Post by Telguest Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:02 am

Well now, things were going rather smoothly weren't they? The trio was up and wandering around the shop again and the green-haired elf was making progress on entering the store. All was well and it was now that the person they had all came to see would make her appearance.

Located along the far back on the store was a well worn wooden staircase that snaked up and around before disappearing through the flooring of the second level of the building. From here a shuffling could be heard, the sound of feet dragging along the floor. Quiet at first it was hardly noticeable but grew louder as it descended the steps; the warped wood creaking underfoot as they were stepped on.

Down, down, down until finally a pair of plain leather booted feet could be seen peeking from the bottom of a homemade, nearly floor length, violet skirt. A few more shuffling steps, a few more creaks, and finally the pint-sized shopkeeper herself was standing there on the last step, honey eyes blazing as she gazed around her store.

To those who didn't know her Mary looked quite harmless indeed; dressed in a floor length rather plain button down violet dress with a shawl over her shoulder, she was the picture of innocence - right down to her surprisingly youthful features under a shock of turquoise colored hair. But the eyes, oh the eyes were a different story and blazed with an unnatural light that belayed any innocence about her. Never judge a book by it's cover. . .

Now then. From the elf with his head in the door to the group wandering the store those honey-bright eyes traveled between them before finally resting on the trio. "Tell meh what yehr heart desires. What is it yeh seek from meh?" They clearly were looking for something, but what could it be? "And as for yeh, coem in and coem closer. I want tae haev a proper look at yeh." While perhaps not clear with that accent of hers, the last bit was directed to the one with his head in the doorway.

There certainly was a party going on inside the shop wasn't there! For his part, this elf was going to feign innocence to any haphazard thing that may have been the resulting factor of his failed bravado entrance. This innocence - that may have easily been the look of guilt - was done by making that smile of his even brighter!

Opening the door a smidgen more he squeezed his way into the shop just as Mary was making her way down the steps. The other people there had had some sort of accident that wasn't his fault. (If he said it enough, maybe he would believe it.) See the brilliant gleam of his smile? It said that any bad that happened was [not] his fault!

Heard the bit about the nose and he made a circular motion around his own nose - even if that group was dispersing to look around the store - and spoke with some advice. "Maybe some ice or a uh....," grabbing for something to say the elf clapped his hands together once and, after a snap on both hands, pointed his forefingers at the female with the nose and blurted out, "You're beautiful even with the swelling!"

Wait. Stop. Oh dear ERU, Alyan needed to quickly turn away and keep closed the mouth. And that's just what he did. Maybe they were to busy looking through the things at Mary's to even pay him any attention at all! Maybe?

He did turn - oh yes he did - and pretended to be grossly interested the pieces hanging off the wall, all the while moving further and further into the shop. This was until the voice of Mary stole his attention. She wanted a proper look at him? Shocking surprise covered his face a moment before it vanished with a wipe of his hand over his hair and he walked closer to the steps, putting on a debonair walk befitting an elf.

"Vendui, Mary."

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Post by Catrina "Cat" Masterson Tue Oct 18, 2011 5:00 am

And then enter Mary. Catrina looked over to the stairs as the woman was making her decent. She seemed so nice and pleasant. And Cat wouldn't even know any different if she did happen to look closely enough into the woman's eyes. She wasn't that attune to such things.

Mary asked her, well them, what it was that they were searching for. The accent made Cat smile even more."Oh, clothes. For larger people. We need to shop for a woman who is size twenty-two, and a man who is size forty-four. We've tried some other shops, but they've been less than polite about not carrying those sizes. We heard you had everything. Would you happen to have such large clothes?" She smiled at Mary then.

Of course, even if Mary didn't have clothes for them to buy, Cat had already seen a thing or two that she wanted. So there was no way she was leaving this store empty handed. And she would probably return to shop again sometime. Cat was really loving this shop.

The guy who had tried to enter the store and had broken her nose was now addressing her. So she turned her attention to him but for a moment. She was primed and ready to stick her tongue out at him. But then he had to go and add a compliment to his suggestion of ice."Why thank you. That's very nice of you to say." She smiled at the elf then. Something she hadn't thought she would have done.

She had to admit, he was kinda cute, even if he looked to be rather young. But she didn't share her sisters affinity for pointy ears. She had dated an elf before, she wasn't prejudice. But it took more than a pair of pointy ears to turn her head. And he did look very young. So she left it at a smile and chose to not bat her eyelashes or flip her hair or use any of the other time honored methods of flirting that her race and sex were known for.

Ah, to be considered nice and pleasant, how the thought would have tickled Mary had it been spoken out loud instead! While the short woman appeared to be both nice and pleasant on the outside that's all it truly was; a facade. Nice and pleasant didn't get you far in the business Mary was in, but that didn't mean there was anything wrong with keeping up the appearance.

Clothing? The group was looking for clothing for larger people? For a moment that nice appearance was gone as Mary stared completely baffled at the woman before she suddenly broke into raucous laughter! It was a sight to behold: the pint-sized shopkeeper was nearly doubled over and shaking with mirth! "I dunna carry clothes," Was gasped out between peals of laughter.

Didn't carry clothing? But Mary's was supposed to carry everything, right? It was the question of the moment but until Mary calmed down enough to talk normally it hung unanswered in the air.

All in all it took quite a few minutes before the shaking and laughing faded enough to where Mary could give a cough and begin to straighten back up. "I dunna carry clothes," Was repeated again, though this time it was easier to understand. "But, I can make them fer the right kind o' price." Ah, and so there was the catch. Nothing was ever free and everything could be sold for the right price, which now begged the question of just what could the right price be for someone like Mary?

Giving the woman a moment to think on whether or not she wanted to deal with this strange little shopkeeper Mary turned her attention to the young elf.

He was intriguing, she would give him that, even if it did seem his mouth had a tendency to run off without him! Stepping back up one step to be more at an eye level Mary leaned in towards Alyan with a smile on her face. "I haev been waiting fer yeh." How was that for a bit on the creepy side? "Though yeh dunna look as much like yer brather as I haev been tald." Told? Now, who would have told Mary about Alyan? Surely there wasn't that many he'd met yet... "Tell meh, what brings yeh here?"

Oh! Oh, oh ooOOoohh. Some female in this crazy, strange - poor elf can't catch any breaks - place, was actually smiling closely at him! Two for two! He didn't think this was strange at all, or creepy. No. He was going to take this opening and run with it! Run all the way to the reason he was here in the first place!

He brushed off his clothing and turned his head to wink at the other lady - the one who's nose he apparently broke (and that he's still so sorry about!) - before turning that winsome smile of his to Mary.

"I am a more younger version of my brother, though that doesn't mean that I am any less of the elf that he is." said with all the debonair swagger he could muster up while keeping his smile. "And, like him, I know that when you want something the person to go and see is Mary."

The elf took a gliding step forward to put him closer to the sales lady. "And with these eyes, blessed Eru, I am seeing you. Mary." To much maybe? Who knows! She could have a flair for the extravagant, her shop said she wasn't into the ordinary.

"I'm in the market for a gateway, portal, device-opener-finder...... device." Alyan dropped his cool for a second there - clearly he had no idea what it was actually called but that could give her a hint. The next instant his game was back on, the display of pearly whites making their appearance once more.

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Post by Catrina "Cat" Masterson Sun Dec 18, 2011 5:57 am

A sudden outburst of laughter caught Catrina off guard. She looked upon Mary like she had smoked her lunch instead of eating it. A furrowed brow and a moving back of the head was the visual as Cat pondered if she wanted to buy anything at all from this apparently crazy woman.

Within the laughter Cat's ears caught wind of what sounded like a proclimation of clothes not being sold there. The woman was laughing at her like she should have known this fact already. What kind of crazy place was this? A glance to the elf showed a look of questioning.

When she looked back at Mary, she had started to gather her wits. And then she repeated her previous proclimation. Didn't sell clothes, but Mary's has eve ... Oh! Now Catrina understood. At least she thought she understood. She didn't stock clothes, she made them.

All looks of confusion were replaced with looks of understanding. And now that she understood better, she would wait for Mary to finish her business with the elf. She whispered to Keven and William and asked them to go grab a few things she wished to purchase while she waited.

For the record Mary didn't smoke anything, although there was considerable doubt on the question of her sanity. In any case the woman had decided on staying rather than running for the hills therefore Mary counted it as a win in her book! And since the woman and the two men with her hadn't went running for it that meant Mary could turn her attention to the little charmer in front of her.

"Of carse yeh are younger, though perhaps naught as young as yeh look, hmmm?" Ah, but she was eyeing the elf up with those honey bright eyes that appeared to look at him and through him all in the same look and was smirking all satisfied with whatever it was that she saw there too.

This elf was quite the charmer though, wasn't he? Unfortunately for Alyan while her shop said she wasn't into the ordinary Mary wasn't into young either and even appearances aside, this elf was quite a bit younger than the short woman standing on the stairs which meant all the charm he was pouring on was sliding right on off. "A portal locator is what yeh desire then? Of these I haev many," Here Mary paused to look upwards at one of the shelves halfway up the far wall that appeared to be covered with dusty twisted pieces of electronics, "But it will naught help yeh in yehr quest. This world be full of portals caming 'an gaing but teh secret tae teh oen yeh want lies with Elessar and yehr brather." Well now, this was turning out to be quite the disappointing trip wasn't it? First the woman with the clothes and now the elf wanting a way home - perhaps Mary's didn't have everything after all?

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Quick and happy nods of his head when Alyan heard Mary sy she knew what he needed. That news kept him form puffing up his chest like a peacock at the mention of him being young. He took to as a compliment! Not as young as h looked - this meant that she saw him as a responsible, able-bodied elf, and not a boy playing games. That's what he was taking from it and no one was going to change his mind!

The high he had was short lived when she said it wasn't what he needed, though maybe it still could be? He stepped forward and put on his most gallant faces. "It matters not to me how many different portals there are, I shall try them all! Besides I know the area I fell through, I'll start my quest there."

Seemed all the more reasonable to him, why wouldn't he try there? It had to be there! Anything was better than asking for his brothers help. "Besides, I don't need my brothers help, I got here without him hadn't I? He'd rather stay here than go back again and that's fine with me." Well, really it wasn't, but he didn't see any other option since Armandeus didn't want to go.

But there were others.

He gave a dramatic turn and then approached the lady whom he had hit with the door earlier. "Hello there!" Smiling bright and brilliantly. "Would you and your merry band of men be willing to take on helm of elven comradere and follow me through a portal, into another world, where you're sure to face certain death and maybe even die all to rescue someone you don't know?"

Never hurt to ask!

Catrina grinned at the elf when he addressed her. "Before you even know my name?" She giggled. "You're cute. Sure. How big of an army would you like?" She arched her eyebrows questioningly at him. She had a reason for her question. But being the way she was, which on occasion could be a bit chatty, she prepared to give him the reason.

It took her a moments thought to weigh her options before telling him.
"There's my older sister, she's a knight. My younger sister is a healer and a lycanthrope. She even helped heal someone named Elessar once, maybe it's the same elf? There's the Goddess. Um, several men, of all different species but mostly human, women too. One of the Goddess' vampires and her husband. My younger sister is dating a druid elf. Oh and she has a pard of lycanthropes. I mean, there's a lot of options for help here. And they would all be happy to help, I'm sure." She grinned hoping he would be happy with what she had said.

Of course, she wasn't sure how many of the Goddess' employees would be willing to help, and the Goddess never forced them to do things that put them in danger. And the boyfriend of her sister and the husband of the vampire and the pard of lycan's might not all want to help. But the others she was sure would be more than happy to come along.

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Ah, the unfailing determination of the youth and their never-ending ability to hear only what they wished. It was a skill that made Mary feel young and chuckle inwardly even as she broke into a huge smile. If the young one was set on doing it all on his own who was she to try stopping him? Which meant it was time to get selling!

After Alyan moved off to try his charms on the woman Mary broke into a flurry of activity as she hopped off the step and headed across the room toward the shelf she had pointed to earlier. Like the rest of the shelves on this wall this particular one was covered in what could easily amount to six inches of dust alone, making it hard to tell just how many of those strange portal devices there actually were. The dust didn't deter Mary however- as with a quick hop upon tiptoes the first device came rattling off the shelf and into her hands with a triumphant "Ah-ha!"

Happy as a clam the short woman was humming to herself as she crossed across the shop again only to disappear behind a fall of a bright purple beaded curtain that hung behind the counter. From behind there came the sound of vacuuming and running water, obvious attempts to clean the dust off the thing, but the noises didn't mean she wasn't listening to what was going on out in the shop!

Given what little she knew of Alyan it came as no surprise that he was attempting to recruit perfect strangers for his quest - brashness would only get him so far alone, what was surprising, however, was the army the woman claimed to be acquainted with. In her line of business she had heard many tales of various deities around Rhydin (they cropped up like weeds!) but there was only one rumored to be tied to such an army. How interesting that this woman seemed to be affiliated with such a being...

In any case the device was now clean and with a flourish out from behind that curtain came Mary holding what at first appeared to be a golden hand gun with a satellite attached to the top. Slipping her way up behind the counter she placed the device down and waited to see what was going to happen next.

"What's a pard?"

There was a point that the young elf was missing but, with everything else going over his head that word 'pard' smacked him. A pard of lycanthropes? Could she have meant a parade? Dear Eur a parade! While he had never actually seen a parade before he had heard that it was a large spectacular enormity full of lights and sounds and dancers on wheels... how exactly would that work with lycanthropes?

And what exactly was a lycanthrope? There was nothing like that in his world and though he's been trekking around Rhydin and this strange world, he wouldn't know one if it came and shook his hand. The lady said that her sister was one, though he didn't see anything wrong with this female - he hit her with a door, he wasn't going to say negative about her apparence! If they all looked like her then maybe she would bring along a parade of women?

Oh the dreamy-eyed, over joyed look of elation on the elfs face! He even swooned, clutching a hand to his chest. He would surely have to --- oh. Wait. Reality hit him and he blinked and shook his head in remorse. "While I would enjoy having a parade of women around me I must stay focused!" Aylan stood up and punched his left fist into his awaiting left palm. "And I fear that I will not be able to protect all the fascinating beauties dancing around on their wheels." What a lovely picture.

"Just you all would be fine. Strong men. Yeah... " He could see the female parade when he returned!

Going to Mary's! Empty Re: Going to Mary's!

Cat was just about to tell him what a pard was when he seemed to zone out for a split second.  Then he started rattling on about a parade of women. "Um, I wouldn't bring a parade of women dancing on wheels into a situation like this.  But if you want a parade when we return, I could ask around and see what I could come up with." She was trying to not laugh about his confusion.  He was obviously newer to the area than she had previously thought.

She smiled and started to try to explain a pard to him.
"But as for a pard.  My sister is a werepanther, well, technically a were leopard as a panther is a black leopard.  But either way, if she were a werewolf, she would have a pack.  If she were a wereswan she would have a flock.  It's all in the terminology.  But her pard isn't all werecat's, she has other creatures too.  A wererat, some werebears, some werewolves. Lot's of variety.  She kind of adopted them."  She wondered if that helped.

She thought for a moment.
"Get your doodad thingy and find your portal.  Then you can get a message to me when you've found itand I should have things arranged by then.  We'll have to go out to theGoddess' Keep so you can pick out your army. But by then I should know who all is willing to come with us and who isn't." That should work, right?  She gave him her best smile possible with a broken nose.  She hoped it would heal fast, she sounded funny when she talked.
