Time, a fickle and harsh mistress ...

It had been many long years since he had last set foot on this world, a world hidden behind a great Nexus. The last time he was here, he had tried his best to protect a woodland sprite by the name of Willow. War elsewhere in the cosmos had called him away and caused him to fail at that task ....

Now he had returned, for what purpose only the Creator knew. For now, he wandered the country side in search of old friends.

It was this that led him to this Inn, one of many in Rhy'Din. A soft smile played across his lips as he stood outside the Inn, his hair freed from the confines of his hood to fall to the small of his back. In the light of the stars and the moon it was odd indeed: Each strand seemed to alternate between ivory white and pitch black. His eyes, a soft hazel color, seemed to shine with an inner light, though dimmed by the countless eons of his life. The hooded cloak he wore was open in the front, showing a trim and athletic form nearly hidden under a flexible suit of midnight colored armor. At one side hung a blade, the design of it quite alien to this world.

With slow steps he moved closer to the main entrance of the Inn, looking about at the tables and chairs on the front porch. Here he paused for a few moments, pondering his next move. It did not take long ...

He moved to one of the chairs on the porch, sitting down and waiting - perhaps he'd see someone he knew outside. for now though, he was content to pull a short stemmed pipe from one inner pocket of his cloak, his free hand pulling pinches of tobacco from a pouch at his left side and packing them into the bowl. when this was done, he concentrated for a moment, a small flame igniting on the tip of his left forefinger. He used this to light the pipe, sending puffs of vanilla scented smoke wafting into the air. That done, the flame was allowed to die, his soft voice breaking the stillness of the night, the tonal quality a bit harsher than his oldest friends would remember, his vocal cords damaged by the fires of war.

"Well now .... Shall we see what happens here my old companion?"

A single nod was given by a form that seemed to shift in and out of the physical plane - a Shade that had followed behind him.

Waiting. Watching. At times people waited and watched for things they didn't fully know what. At this particular time the man that approached the Inn was not the only one who was watching things. It may not have been immediately apparent but the man and his Shade of a companion were not alone on the porch.

Around to the side of the porch where the shadows were the deepest and darkest in the light that was there she was standing. Not hiding. The smooth and even sound of a granite on metal drifted out from her position because she was sharpening the blade of her dagger Gold. She did it out of sight because she was being considerate of how it would look to any potential tenants to see someone sharpening a weapon on the Inn's doorstep. Airtia made no attempt to hide her presence and she didn't announce it for all to know either as she would leave the wall soon enough.

One stroke and then another before she slipped it back into it's proper place in the sheath at her hip. Now did she push away from the wall and turn her direction towards the man. The heels of her black leather lace-up knee high boots didn't make sound as started across the wooden floor towards him. Though they were silent there was the soft noise naturally made with walking and he may even feel her Silver eyes as they were trained on him. If anything the Shade would pick up her presense?

Shouldn't be a surprise.

"Aving a break b'fore facing the wolves inside the Inn?" Her voice was smooth and steady and held an air of authority in the undertone even if it was not used. Slightest of smiles shadowed her lips.

Her approach ended at a reasonable distance from where he sat and, of course, she was looking down at him as he was sitting and she standing. Hair dark aurbun hair was pulled into a single braid and it covered the tips of her ears. The facial expression was hard to read as well as telling her age.

He smiled softly up at the woman who had approached from the shadowed corner, her presence indeed not being much of a surprise. even with his other senses closed off at this time he'd have heard the sound of metal being sharpened. The Shade had long ago stopped warning him of others unless they seemed to be a threat to him, so it had kept its 'mouth' shut.

"Something like that, yes." The tone in her voice was noted and filed away. It had been so long for him that many of his former friends would only register to him in the back of his mind - unless it was someone he had spent a lot of time around anyway. This meant that while his mind was nagging him, he could not trust it at the moment. She seemed familiar to him, but that could simply be a case of mistaken identity.

The smoke continued to fill the air as he took his time smoking the pipe, the action more out of habit than addiction however. It was a calming thing for him and helped him to think on occasion. "When was this place built? It was not here the last time I was on this world." He tended to think of the planet with the same name of its major city - Rhy'Din.

It was on this world that so many of the changes that he'd undergo occurred ... Not all of them, but the majority.

The nearby Shade might seem familiar to her, if he was someone from his past anyway ... It had the sense of being an Elemental of the Shadow type. Indeed, of all of the Elementals that were his friends, only the Shade stayed by his side no matter where he went. The others might be summoned later to take a vacation however.

The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open)) Empty Re: The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open))

Post by Airtia S. Cauthon Sat Aug 28, 2010 8:14 pm

A quick study was made of the man and also of his companion while he spoke. Yes, she knew that it was there for it's energy was not easily missed neither was it's ever slight change but then again she could pick up on certain things but since nothing was being said of the Shades presence by the man she too would stay mute.

In her time within guilds she was never known to be a social one - always knowing those that she needed to know in order to get things done and therefore the more common of people often fell to the wayside. However, there was always a person or two that were given more than a passing glance. Must be the reason why he was familiar. The Man with the Shades. To bad that when it came to remembering names it all seemed to vary.

The focus direction of her eyes changed from him to the door as the Inn was the chosen topic of the moment. "It tis new tae New Haven, aye. The Tel'Ranaemyn Inn." Smooth and flawless pronunciation of the name.

She moved then, the light of the suns rays glinted off the three silver spikes that held her cropped bodice together as she turned in direction of the porch railing. Leaning back against it her hands splayed out to either side and the position of her left bent to let her heel rest against the lower ring of the rail made her position appear relaxed.

"Though it tis new the wolves inside are gentler than the ones outside." Could be that she was implying that he couldn't loiter on the porch. Perhaps even calling herself a wolf, or, she was making a joke.

He let out a soft chuckle, slowly rising and heading to the railing himself. enough time had passed that he had finished the bowl of tobacco and thus the pipe needed to be tapped out. The bowl was inverted and tapped against the outer edge of the railing as gently as possible, making the ashes start their trip to the ground. A very soft breeze chose that moment to come from the east, taking the ashes with it.

"It seems much has changed indeed on this world. From the way you speak and carry yourself miss, you may be able to answer something for me. I have been wandering the countryside ever since returning to this world and have heard rumors that a few of my old friends and acquaintances might be found near here or much further to the East, perhaps across the ocean."

He paused there, turning his head to look at her, those hazel hued eyes seeming to look through her for the briefest of moments .... Perhaps he was also trying to place who she reminded him of?

"The last I saw them, they had been living in a castle due west of Rhy'Din city and were part of one of the local Guilds."

He turned again, looking back at the Shade and actually laughing a bit. Had it said something? Indeed ... He slowly shook his head and then looked out over the lawn, awaiting an answer even as he responded to the Shade.

"I know Shayd ... I'm just praying that I'll recognize some of them when I run into them." "With the way your memory has been lately?" "Oh shut up ....."

Erm, yes - Shayd had said that out loud. Apparently it had an odd sense of humor that often revolved around causing a bit of embarrassment on the part of the man in much the same way as an old friend occasionally did.

"Sorry about that miss .... sometimes he's a pain in the arse."

The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open)) Empty Re: The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open))

Post by ~*~ Azlin Zoi ~*~ Sun Aug 29, 2010 6:18 pm

Wherever Airtia was, Azlin was not far, even if she did not always make her presence known. Many times she had no reason to make such a presence known, but she always watched out for her, even if she knew the woman could take care of herself. It was part of the bond the two had. Little known facts, and nothing that would really surprise anyone that knew Az, for it was just how it was.

She had been out in the gardens before Airtia had made her presence known at the inn. Proof of her previous adventure was shown in the flowers she had made into a chain and was prominently featured as a halo about her head. Long wavy locks of silver and golden were worn loosely about her, moving slightly about her as if a light breeze was blowing against the strands, even when she did not move. She had debated if she was going to interfere in the conversation that the two were having, for she did not know the man, but that had never stopped her in the past. Only a quick thought over that fact and she made her presence known, even if the Shade had been able to sense her, for she had taken her bodily form not to far from the inn, even if she had been a mist not to long before. It was quicker to travel from one location to the next in that form. It was not that she feared Airtia was in danger, for if one went up against her, they had their hands full, it was more of her natural curiosity. It was when Air told the man that the wolves inside were gentler then the wolves outdoors, a soft laugh would be the first noise, for really she could not help it.

Waiting for the words to pass between the two of them, a duck of her head to each in turn and a smile to the shade with the man. Baby blue gaze was sparkling. Her voice was lyrical as always, even when she was in dungeon that voice did not lose the lyrical quality, it sometimes lead people to believe she was not as cross as she really was. “ ‘ello Air.” It would be one of those rare times she did not greet Airtia with a hug. Before greeting the man and the shade. “Sir and his friend.” She knew that the shade had not come with Airtia, so it only made sense for it to be with the man. The flower halo around her head was made up of the various flowers from the garden, picked before they would wilt though only by hours, it was rather colorful, the bright pinks, yellows, oranges, reds and purples standing out against the greenery. Her form was once more covered in the long white gown, it was the most comfortable of her garments, it hung rather loosely about her form, thankfully it was not a full moon that night, the long bell shaped sleeves would show themselves if she lifted her arms. Bare feet would skim over the grass as she approached those on the porch, not really having much to say, she did not know the man nor his friends, but she couldn’t of kept that giggle in about the wolves. Wolves made her think of werewolfs, which gave her a rather fond memory, from her past. Lips were curved into a smile. She had missed her dearest friend and had hopes of catching up soon, though those thoughts were not spoken out loud.

The appearance of Azlin was met with something of a laugh - what was that rather human expression? Speak of the Devil and he shall appear? It was a small wonder that she did not place him, if his memory served properly he had met her in passing and perhaps had a sparring match with her and a few others! That also explained why he thought that Airtia seemed a bit familiar ... She was indeed another from the very same place he had been asking about, one that had truly been in passing - no wonder he couldn't remember her name!

"I go looking for anyone I can find that may have once resided at Windseer Castle .... and one I recognize pops up!" "That'll teach you to talk of the devil while on Rhy'Din ...." "Oh shut up already Shayd ...."

He turned then to look at Azlin and smile just a bit. It was ok with him if she didn't remember him .... He had changed quite a bit and quite frankly it was not as if he was enough of a social butterfly to have made an impression on many that had once resided in Windseer, well he did make an impression on someone - maybe she was here too?

"Aye Az, how long 'as it been since ye were running the Alliance?" A long while back if her memory served her right and most of the time, in things like this, it did. Her statement also served to say that she too was a member of the Alliance once upon a time, even if she was not a very social person. A smile was delivered to her dear friend and 'sister' as she had spoken those words. To look at the two of them it would likely surprise people to know that they really close. How the two dressed was enough to put them on opposite playing fields. Az with her pure colored dresses and flowers in her hair and Airtia dressed to excute a quick strike.

Night and Day is what they appeared to be to those who didn't know them.

They would have thier time later. As she was leaning on the railing and the man had joined, she assumed that Azlin would join them as well. If they didn't decided to get up and move elsewhere. "As ye were approaching I was telling him 'bout the wolves." There was her reference about them again and her attention turned back to the man but focused on his companion. Her eyes stayed there for more than a moment. This Shade may not have had eyes that were visible for all to see but she was still studying him before she pulled her eyes away to look back at the man. "I can appreciate yer Shade. Perhaps he's a candid speaker." The question was left off of the statment even though it was one.

"'e will be fine inside. Do ye nae think so, Az?" She was speaking to her 'sister' even as she was still looking at the man. WIth that said she flexed her hands upon the railing and looked towards the front door. "Depending on who ye remember ye will find them inside o' 'bout the city of New Haven. There may e'en be a room o' few open iffen ye need tae stay somewhere during yer search."

She could promote the Inn every now and then. Beside, if the man was looking for people of his past, and since he was already here, he may as well stay a night or two and see who else crosses his path.

The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open)) Empty Re: The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open))

Post by ~*~ Azlin Zoi ~*~ Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:03 am

Good thing it was just an expression, because she would not take kindly to being called a devil! Well…no. Nor would she interrupt his conversation with the Shade. She would wait until she was addressed, and perhaps he was lucky because at that time her attention had been drawn elsewhere, shiny objects and all. Some things never changed. And Az’s love of shinnies was one of those.

Azlin had been quite the social butterfly, and a downfall was not remembering everyone, but then when one had a checkered past such as Azlin it was probably better not to remember it all. That way she could beg off that she just did not remember and it would be the truth! So she would have that hint of surprise when he spoke of her time at the Alliance, looking between the man, and her ‘sister‘. It had seemed like a lifetime ago. “It has been a very long…very long time.” As for when she was there. She had fond memories though, and a smile touched her lips, before she looked to the man. Steps of hers were coming closer, because she was joining them on the porch. There was not a sound of steps but merely of fabric moving from her movements, graceful as ever.

A soft smile was shot to the man, as was normal from her, she was that sort. “I beg forgiveness, but I can’t seem to place your name right now…” Truthful but delivered in a nice way, the words even when she was lost, and it was obvious were lyrical. A hint of a blush, because she usually could remember people, but then again her time as a hermit changed things. It still was rather funny that she had turned into such.

Oh yes, the matter at hand, she could handle that. “Tis true…tis safe enough inside the Inn.” She had been here quite a while, and while she had found some interesting things within the halls she was never in danger. A grin was given to Airtia, before looking back to the man, “The rooms are clean…and beds are soft…iffen your lookin for a place to stay for the night.” Some people liked to travel at night, but if he was looking for his friends, wouldn’t it make sense for him to stay here? A base of sorts to work from?

The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open)) Empty Re: The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open))

Post by Spirits Rising Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:21 am

"Sometimes he simply doesn't know when to hold his 'tongue'"

The more spiritually aware might be able to actually see Shayd for what he really was - a bat-like creature about three feet from the upper parts of his wings to the tip of his single tail-like appendage, his main body comprised of a single crimson colored eye with a vertical pupil. Shayd had no mouth, so his 'spoken' words seemed to almost echo in the air. While Elementals were also native to the world of Rhy'Din he himself had noted that the Shadow types like Shayd that were present on this planet were far more anti-social than they were on his own home world.

He offered a faint smile to both Airita and Azlin, shifting just a bit when Azlin said she could not remember him by name. That was something he'd be unable to rectify .... He had long ago forgotten his birth name and instead went by another these days. It was nothing as simple as a case of amnesia ... His name was different on each world he visited down through the ages and as such he had not used his birth name in some time.

"Perhaps you are right. I have apparently run into two of those I once knew," Here, he offered another soft smile, "It would be best for me to rent a room eh? do either of you know the rates for the rooms here? For that matter, does New Haven use the currency native to Rhy'Din - or does the owner have a means to convert off world currency to the local type?"

His own pockets currently held very little local currency ... The bulk of it was credit Chits and Dollar bills. If there was a way to convert the money to the local currency without having to resort to magick, he'd be quite glad. He tried to avoid the use of magick these days ... It was not so much a drain on him as it was that his magick was always intertwined with something that seemed to unnerve others. Indeed, that self same spiritual awareness that could be used to see Shayd as he really was could also be used to get a hint of what he so desperately hid these days.

What that was, only time would tell as it was inevitable that he'd make his presence known. He just hoped it ended better than it did on the last world he had visited.

See that? If Azlin said that the place was safe then that is what it had to be, right? Clearly Airtia was only trying to pull the guys leg by talking about wolves and the implication of pending danger if he stayed so it had been a good thing that her sister was there to settle any questionable doubts that may have sprung up.

The man has poised a good question in asking if either of them knew about the rates. She for one didn't but that didn't mean that the same was true for Azlin. So to answer his question Airtia gave the slightest of a rolling shrug of her shoulders that would hardly register as a movement at all. "The currency the New Haven accepts does nae matter at this Inn," she said with a shift of her eyes to the front door. "They deal in all sorts o' currency." That statement encompassed things from coins, to bills, to services. More focus on the last.

"Iffen it tis that ye want tae stay here there will be room fer ye." There was a slight pause as she turned towards the direction of his companion. The Shade. "As well as yer companion." As Airtia had no spiritual awareness she couldn't see him, the most that she could do was sense that he was there.

"When ye decide tae get a a room, knock on the front desk. Perhaps it tis that ye will see anot'er ye use tae know." As for her? She seemed content out there on the porch railing.

The shade was not the only one that didn't always know when to hold ones tongue. But that was neither here nor there. Could Azlin see the shade, well, that's something that would be left up for debate, because she wouldn't flat out say it. Though one might be able to tell, by the way her baby blues would land on the creature before flickering between the man and her 'sister'.

The fact he did not offer a name was not lost on her, but she wasn't about to say anything about it, people had their reasons for things, did they not? Maybe at a later date she would check on that. The rates of the rooms were a total different thing, she had signed her name and said she would pay at the end, not only for her room but her daughters room as well. Well the daughter that was not sharing her room, to someone like Azlin, money was not an issue, it had not been for a very long time. Not that she went out and flaunted things.

A warm smile at the man's words and Airtia's reply. "Perhaps if you stick around some, you might run into some others that you once knew?" It did sound logical to her, being that a lot of people were at the Inn, and those that Az did know just because she didn't search them out, didn't mean she didn't know they were there. Without the use of the book at the front counter. She sensed those that were around, it was another of her gifts, but one that she had not abused. That was how she knew that Derick had left, and without a word to Al or her, not that she expected him to tell her, but she did expect some sort of communication to Al.

But enough on that, Az turned her warm smile to the nameless one. "What are we to call you?" Not really asking for him name again, because he seemed to not want to give that up, but she needed something to call him, or else who knew what her pretty little head would come up with. Oh, Air and Az would of course, catch up later, she loved hearing Air's stories and sharing her own.

Nodding to Airita, he seemed to lose himself in thought for a moment ... The meaning of her words not lost on him at all. After a few more moments, he offered them something of a wry half smile. This was certainly going to be an interesting place - no matter if he found others or not.

He noted the way Azlin's eyes seemed to flick and linger for a fraction of a second longer on Shayd. at the least those on Rhy'Din knew how to act around oddities. Then again, such actions also stemmed from one's background. If she were not going to say anything outright, he'd not say anything either.

"Perhaps I will at that. I'll probably have one more good bowl of tobacco before heading inside."

He paused then, hearing Azlin's question ..... He had been a wee bit rude, not giving a name they could call him by. Once more he seemed to lose himself in thought - pulling a name he had used on this world once in the past from his memories.

"Please, call me Sonorus."

"Sonorus." Airtia said his name simply as she sought to memorize it - at least for the moment - and put a name to his face. It didn't cross her mind to ask the name of the Shade for it was simply that: a Shade. "You may call me Airtia. Good tae 'ave yer name." The last was almost trailed out but she cut it off before it started. True that Azlin had called her Air - and that was fine it's only that she didn't answer to simply anyone who shortened her name.

She didn't know this many in the same way she knew her sister.

He said that he was going to be out on the porch longer with his bowl and she doubted that she was going to tarry now that she had finished sharpening her daggers.

"Though there tis nae anything against loiteres on the porch," she said as she eased from the railing and took steps towards the front door in a casual manner so as not to seem rude to either of them, "I would advise against staying out 'ere less ye 'ave signed the Ledger. I shall get it fer ye."

Interesting thing that Ledger was that held the names or marks of the people staying at the Inn, ever since Airtia had taken the time to study it that book had been a thing of curiousity. "This way ye can stay where ye are fer as long as ye wish." And she would get a chance to see if there was anything to see when a person signed the book.

While she may be a very social creature, there were times when she did hold her tongue, and one had better take a picture because it was far and few between those times. Now she could of spoken to the shade but something had her more focused on the man and her ‘sister’.

When the man went into thought about his name, that seemed a bit odd, but well maybe his name changed or it changed depending on whom he spoke with. A small smile slipped over her features, “Tis a pleasure to meet you Sonorus.” Even though in her mind she was trying to think of if she had ever met someone with such a name, surely it would of stuck out, and yet it did not. And the man was lucky for she had not cut his name down, as she did with everyone, give it time if he was around her long enough, it would happen. It was the way of Az. Without any thought her baby blues took the sight of the man in, perhaps even as her lashes lowered just a bit, not that she was demure, twas just habit.

Shift of baby blues over to Air, a impish grin, hearing about the ledger. Oh Az had signed it herself, not that she cared much she wasn’t planning on skipping out with giving the Inn its due. It would not have to hunt her or her children down. Not that her children were not grown now, Az was the sort that took care of those that were hers. She knew that one daughter had gone off for a few days, even if she hadn’t told Az she was going, and the other she felt needed a closer watching of. Something she was thinking on getting around to fixing up, but she had to do it just right, without alienating her.

Air was probably the only person that could tell what Az was thinking, before Az thought it, and understood the woman better then most. As Airtia was going inside to get the journal it would take a few moments, she would slip over near Sonorus, though not in the way of the shade. The way she stood was more then open for the Shade if he wished to contribute. Index finger came out to touch along her chin, tip just under her mouth. As if the girl was in thought, though it did not last long and finger tip trailed down off her face, arm lowering a moment. “Iffen you have names of those you are lookin for, maybe between us we can tell you iffen they have been spotted around?” It was said as a offer, one that if he took up would be fine, and if he passed that would be fine as well. She had no personal stake, that she knew of.

Moving she would to the railing that went around the porch, near where the man was, for she wasn’t turning her back upon him, she slipped up to sit upon it, feet lifting to press the bottoms of bareness upon the ledge, her back pressing against a main board that helped hold the whole thing together. Arms were lifted and placed around bent knees, as she took a few moments listening.

He slowly nodded as Airita moved in the direction of the main doors, noting how both she and Azlin reacted to his name in turn. In many ways, Az had the right idea concerning his name - thankfully he had yet to run into any awkward situations, such as two people calling him by different names.

Shayd for the most part had not moved much since they had arrived here, though now he shifted so that he was above Sonorus's right shoulder. If Az could truly see him, the sight could almost be considered comical: A bat like creature hovering over someone's shoulder like a pet.

"Thank you Airtia." Turning to look at Az, he smiled a tiny bit, nodding his head before speaking again, "The help would be much appreciated Azlin. My memories of his world, hazy though they may be, are rather fond ones. Names, faces .... Some are as clear as day, others not so much." "And some you'd rather forget, eh old friend?" "...Indeed Shayd ... indeed." Well, Az at least now knew the name of the shade. even his name had changed over the ages - at one point he had been called Night, sometimes Nightshayd - hence the current form of his name. His presence was a bit of a clue for some that had known him so long ago - indeed, one of his old friends now enjoyed the company and protection of another Elemental spirit tanks to Sonorus. In fact .... "az, one in particular that I remember clearly is an old sect commander of mine: Malice Sinclair Kinkaid."

Now there was a name that brought back memories....

The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open)) Empty Re: The Beginning of a New Tale .... ((Open))

It did not take her long to get the ledger as the front desk was not too far from inside the Inn. Nothing special was used for her to get the book as this time she wanted her daughter to know that it was being used. Whenever she handled it the book she felt the subtle Weaves that were intertwined through it and was reminded that she may want to see the origin of the object. Another day. Another day.

During this time she picked up a bit of what Sonorus said, the last part especially. He was looking for someone and Airtia happened to know of that person and that they had a room here at the Inn. So it was with a bemused smile she turned the pages of the ledger to locate the name as she left the desk to return to the porch.

"Ye are in luck, Sonorus," said Airtia as she arrived back in the company of him and Azlin, "Malice 'as a room 'ere on the third floor." Some would argue that personal information - such as where they were staying - should not be given out unless given permission and in some cases they would be correct. However, this was Airtia and the person he was looking for was Malice; she could take care of herself.

"Room three 'undred and three." She flipped another page or two to get to the last signature so that Sonorus could sign his own. With the book Airtia had also brought a pen and a room key, how presumptuous of her.

There was only one floor left with available rooms and that was the first floor.

"Of course, ye cannae go up until ye sign the book."

It happened right? People got odd names all the time. But she wasn't going to dwell, she wasn't to much of a dweller she was more of a live for the moment. She shifted just a bit on the railing, she had opened her mouth to speak when Airtia had come back, and it caused her lips to quirk into a smile. She would of been able to say that Malice was in the Inn, but not the room number.

A small incline of her head, not that she wasn't much of a talker but she had nothing to say. And she would await to see if she could be a help in a different way.

When Airtia came back with the Ledger, he quirked a brow very briefly - why, one would have to ask him. when she said he was in luck a wide grin crossed his lips, waiting to hear where his old friend might be.

Azlin may indeed be able to help out in other ways, so much seemed to change each time he visited a planet after being away .... Any information he could get would be a good thing. From the flowers she had earlier, he had to wonder if she had an affinity for plants and working with them. If so, that might prove useful.

He nodded to Airtia when she found the room and explained that he'd have to sign the Ledger before he could head upstairs. His eyes narrowed at the book as he reached out to take it and the pen. as he bent his head to examine the page and find a blank spot to sign his name to it, his eyes flashed very briefly - The left blue, the right red. His eyes remained narrow even after he had signed his name and handed the book and pen back to Airtia.

"Thank you Airtia as soon as I finish up a second bowl of tobacco, I might just go up and say hello."

Yes, he could tell something was up with that book. what exactly that was, he had no idea .... the way it felt to him was different than most workings he had encountered before. Must be a different way of working with the powers that be.

Once he handed her the book back, he'd reach out for and pocket the key, taking note of the number engraved upon it. with that done, he pulled his pipe and tobacco out once more to have himself a smoke.

The key he was given was to room 104, up the stairs and to the left - or was it the right. It was one of the last of the 'spacious' single rooms that were left but it did not have it's own bathroom. If he wanted one later then he would have to go to the front desk and talk to the person there. That floor had a large communal bathroom that was equipped with showers.

Airtia watched as he took the book and began to sign, the expression on her face was of casual passing interest. In actuality she was watching as the Weavings of the book were activated as he pressed the pen to it and began to sign his name. He could have marked an 'X' or made a wiggly line to be his signature and it would not have mattered, a binding weave had been activated and it rose from the book and wrapped around the mans' hand. It wasn't anything to be physically felt - and since he was connected to energies he was able to feel something - but Sonorus would not be able to leave the Inn without feeling compelled to see to his debt.

When he was done she took the book back and smiled over to Azlin. "That was 'andled quiet well." From Azlin to the man she looked, "enjoy yer stay, I must take my own leave."

Certain that Azlin would be able to answer any other questions he had about the Inn - his room, the bar, amenities - Airtia turned to head back in so that she could return the book and be on her way. As an afterthought she added over her shoulder, "watch yer step on the main floor."

There was a construction project going on, only the workers were on break, or gone for the day.

She had gone into a day dream there on the railing, shaking her head lightly, she would turn a smile upon the man. Right before she got up, and before Airtia was gone, she would get a quick hug and kiss to her cheek, then she would move back to her spot on the railing. As if she had never moved. A twinkling laugh escaped. "I can attempt to help if you do have any other questions. Though I can not attest for your room on the first floor. I am upon the top floor." She liked being up high when she was in Inns and such, though her favorite was her cave dwelling her lair if you will.

Feet would lower from the rail and she would turn slightly, allowing her legs to swing just a bit. "Did you have any other questions?" It was a innocent enough question was it not? The man did not have to worry about her tagging along to go and visit with Malice, she had yet to see her but when she did it wouldn't be now.

Hmmm, certainly an odd form of magic to him. Whatever the energy was, he could guess it had something to do with preventing freeloaders or one otherwise skipping out on their 'tab' - why else would such a thing occur when one signs the Ledger? No matter, with a small smile he nodded to Airtia again in thanks before he pulled his pipe out again and packed it up. He really did tend to say what he meant .... Lighting it up, he sent vanilla scented smoke wafting into the air once more.

Once it was going to his satisfaction, he looked at Az and pondered for a moment, "Would you happen to know of anyone here who could point me to local Ley Lines or intersections of them? I am .... a bit drained from my travels." An odd question, one normally only asked by certain races and 'professions'. Perhaps he was one of those eh?

When the attention shifted back to her, she blinked a moment, before her head tilted. Now it was because she was a different sort of well magical being that his question left her baffled. "Where the what is?" A pause, "I do not think I have heard of that before." She would be helpful if she could. Lower lip was nibbled, for she really did not know how to help him with that.

He softly chuckled at the look she gave him, he had forgotten that various people called them by different names .... "Ley Lines are essentially an invisible network of magic and natural energies that exist on many worlds. Some magic users will draw on their energies for various spells and other things. They may not be called such here though ..."

Indeed, some worlds called them Mana Streams, Lifestream Veins or other names that had a coronation with life, magic or nature.

[ it ate my post! I answered this one before the other one! Grrr! ]

"Oh!....um....I...err...wow." Yep that was what he got from that, she hadn't a clue what they were, it wasn't something she needed. Her gifts were a part of her, no recharging lines needed, batteries recharged themselves. "I didn't even know they existed." Her mind was flickering to see if she could think of anyone to ask which she couldn't at the moment.

"Do you remember where the ones were you used last time? Or do they move around?" IF he needed help getting to them quick like she could help him with that, it was figuring out where they were she wasn't going to be a great help.
